Interesting. I’ll be following along in excitement. I hope for their sake there’s no astronaut requests that scratch some rarities
Still can’t believe they scratched it. A fantastic  show nonetheless. The band is firing on all cylinders.
What was it that got scratched?  I think it was In Hiding that got scratched for Black if I remember correctly.

Agreed on all counts. I hope the fall leg has this same level of performance quality because they really are kicking ass right now.

That does stink.  He just needs to stick with going into space instead of making song requests.

    Poll Question:
    Dave Grohl
         Or
    Dave A.

Dave A played all over the place and couldn’t keep time. Grohl is one of the best drummers of the last 30 years. Pretty easy call imo
    I’m guessing you’re not a musician?  Wow
I am, in fact, a musician. Dave A had a lot of personality as a drummer but he was an extremely busy player and not nearly as steady as other drummers the band has had. I’m guessing you’re not a musician.
Nothing screams excitement like a “steady” drummer.  It’s a rock band not an orchestra.  Fills and personality make a band unique.  At the same time, the drumming in VS is pretty fucking technical and, more importantly, MEMORABLE!!!
If I’m not mistaken one of the reasons he was let go from the band was he couldn’t rein that shit in, ever. Like literally didn’t know how to not play that busy. Liking that style or not is a personal preference but objectively, he was a very busy drummer and didn’t always keep time well. Give me Jack or Matt any day and if the question is Dave A or Dave Fucking Grohl, that’s a pretty easy one for me to answer.

He did play great on Vs though, and there’s no “Go” without him. Important part of the band while he was in it, for sure.
Would love an example of him not "keeping time." Band jammed like their name when he was in it.

Was there a confirmation on that if I may ask? On the departure of Dave A.  I always got the impression from the books and stories that is was purely a personality clash at that point
I definitely can’t speak for anyone in the band. There are numerous articles that cite musical differences as well as personal, and some specifically saying he played too busy for what Ed was trying to do. I don’t have any info beyond what’s available publicly.

It’s not like he lost the 1 or something. His pocket just wasn’t especially deep or steady. Some of that comes from playing the way he did which, again, is a personal preference thing. He just didn’t keep the steadiest time. Bands can still jam/sound great and not have a drummer who’s a human metronome.

If you would like “one example” of his rushing fills, etc truly just choose a show from his era. Doesn’t mean he played badly.
