For me, this is a much better setlist than the SD show so far. Of The Girl, early Small Town, Faithfull, Buckle Up (yes I'm Team Stone), Nothingman, Present Tense. Love it.
I'm team Stone too.  Yay us!!!

Shocked at how short these sets are if this is the new norm for PJ.

Looks like a good set, too bad that so many great songs won’t ever or rarely get played if they stick with shows in the low 20s for songs.  Quality over quantity though.

Just got back from the show, honestly the setlist number count is just a visual - the show was great and feels plenty "complete" when there for sure!   Kickass night

Also - popped my "Of the Girl" opener cherry tonight! That was a really cool suprise, was not expecting to get that

Yep. I get it. They are older and have the right to do whatever they want. With that being said, if I knew this was the new norm, doubt I’d be traveling to Fresno and Sacramento. In general I don’t see myself traveling like I used to going forward. It was a great run…

I do get it, but what a bummer with the short sets. Makes me feel better about not being able to go to many shows.

Obviously they still put on a great show. Part of it is just a humble brag when comparing to other bands.
I wonder if it's something serious. They played 20 minutes less than in San Diego. I guess curfew?

As I recall, Jeff spoke of doing it like Zeppelin. 1977 had marathon shows, No Quarter and Moby Dick were topping out each at 30 minutes plus. Playing 19 song sets that ran almost 3 hours. Then in 1980, the tour over Europe had a tight set without the indulgences (no NQ or MD) and ran for two hours with 17 songs. I just wonder as they warm up and get the new material road tested, this will feel more like 1998 with one encore and maybe a two song second encore. Set looks tight and San Diego too.

These set lengths don’t bug me at all.

I said it before…my fav shows were 96-98.   This is just like that but with a more unpredictable set list (11 albums vs 5).  Nobody complained back then about set length.  We just cared about killer performances.

Exactly! Tight - all about being tight and a killer performance. I wonder if Eddie has a vision for new songs (6-7) played with older songs each night and rotate through the albums with some favorites/hits.

Wow. So I guess that seals it. We've gone from 30-36 songs per show to now 22-23. That's quite disappointing.

Essentially the band have removed the 5+ sloppy repetitive covers from their shows and we have a tight Pearl Jam setlist, performed well.

I've been hoping for this for some years now. Long may it continue.

I’ll save the bulk of my comments for the Fanview thread but I thought it was a much better show than SD. A lot more energy in the building. It does appear the new norm that the show will be in the low 20 song count. In some ways, it’s likely better as Ed will hold up better but clearly with the number of new songs and the fan faves they have to rotate through, it would seem that there will be a lot fewer rarities played on a nightly basis.

SOLAT in particular was played much closer to the studio version tempo than I remember recent tour versions of it sounding, less speedy and punky and more groovy

I loved both shows, and don't even mind the shorter setlists, as long as they keep leaving out the 5-7 covers.  Tonight was really a great show.  Even with the shorter list, I was able to add Of The Girl, Present Tense and Faithful tonight.  Pretty jacked up about it still!!!

Or they could add 5+ of their songs. It's not a requirement to play covers or to play 30 songs. But they have enough in their catalog to make up for it

They're probably sick of playing (relatively) sloppy 30+ song shows. They're pretty old.

Show seemed very short. Incomplete. Ed talks a lot . Takes up a lot of time and sort of makes the show slow paced. The last LA arena show in 2013 was 33 songs. Obviously a huge difference. The last few years shows had that Springsteen can’t go one more minute vide. This wasn’t that at all. I have tix for 5 more shows. Most of those I won’t go to.

They are still tremendous players and Ed is a super engaging front man. But this was  a different thing than any of us expected. It’s a good quality show put in by a top notch live band.  But not “holy cow” great like it’s been since 2003.

Hopefully the shows will get longer as the tour continues. Maybe starting tomorrow. But don’t kid yourself. 22 songs is a disappointment.

I think plenty of us expected this.
