Soooo. Do we believe TM will do the math and realize i had ZERO capital gains? I bought and sold a bunch of tix....But made nothing...So it would be great if i dont receive a 1099 for that NON- income!

  • Does anyone think that what is happening on Ticketmaster with ticket prices dropping 48-72 hours ahead of the show will happen with MSG on Stubhub?  Cheapest GA tix are already down almost $1000 from 2 weeks ago.   Tons of GA posted.  Is anyone really gonna pay $7500?

I listed and sold PJam tickets for May earlier this year with no issues.  I am trying to list a single for Hamilton and a pair for Toronto and am extremely frustrated.  I have tried on my cell phone (the TM app) and on a desktop (the TM website) without success.  I even put in my tax info.  Still no luck.  Should I try the TM website on my cell phone?  It claims that the bank account info I entered is incorrect even though I know it is correct because I have my checkbook right here and entered the numbers from there.

Any advice would be most appreciated.  If I can't list these tickets I will be forced to eat them as I am not going to Canada this time.
I tried the TM website on my cell phone and that didn't work either.  I have full bars so that is not the problem.
Don’t use the app, depending on where u are use the website Ticketmaster.com or Ticketmaster.ca

  • I am curious - if you are trying to upgrade your tickets and you already have tickets through the fan club, can you purchase these new tickets while still having the original 10C tickets?  I hope my question makes sense.

Yes you can. As long as you never had more than 4 tickets to a single show at the same time, you're fine. I have 10C seats for Toronto and Hamilton. I just bought a better pair for each, and then listed my original 10C tickets right after. Easy peasy.

You can have had more than 4 tickets to a show at one time too. I believe the limit for active tickets are 2 10C and 4 F2F

Solid Toronto seats are being released in pairs. 118 and 109...definitely worth moving forward if you're trying.

You're definitely smart for asking. There'd be nothing worse than getting stuck with more tickets than you want and not being able to re-sell. Good luck with upgrading or getting that extra pair!

So, the premium drops that happen on ticketmaster are only for tickets that were "Pearl Jam Premium" ever since they went on sale, and were not bought.

What usually happens is they drop down to standard on the day of show.

Since the tickets on StubHub are for Madison Square Garden and Denver we're already bought & are being resold, what will happen on the day of, is that people will start to panic, and then unload the tickets at a lower price. Sometimes, possibly, even for face. Just so they don't eat the cost.

So the key is patience, and a lot of luck.

Pearl Jam/TM's fan to fan was set up so that you could only re-sale the tickets for what you bought them for, which is great if you got them for face value. But if you bought them at premium prices, you can only sell them for the premium price, which I believe is an inherent flaw.

@SHZA made a good point, and said that if we have tickets that we just can't move (let's say, if we upgrade) we should be able to sell them at a lower price, and take the hit (rather than eating the whole cost). The current system on fan to fan doesn't allow for that, which is unfortunate.

Yet, I have seen some of these overpriced tickets move. I saw it for Ottawa, and now we're seeing it for Hamilton & others, so : shrug :

For MSG and Denver I’d say it depends if the sellers are private people whose plans changed or professional scalpers.  I believe the pros will eat the cost rather than sell for a fair price, so that for future events the public doesn’t see a benefit to waiting it out.  The scalpers are better scalpers than TM is in this regard.

Soooo. Do we believe TM will do the math and realize i had ZERO capital gains? I bought and sold like 10 tix.... If i get a 1099 for like 1.5k it would just kind of suck... since clearly, its not income...

Yes, but you need to have proof of the cost basis. So save your receipt for the initial purchase on your hard drive, cloud etc.
