Decided last night to fly out solo for this show. Only one I’m doing in May. Any Oakland tips would be appreciated.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I’ll be going both nights but Friday night will be with 10c tix, Section A row 1. And I’ll be dragging along a buddy of mine who loves music & going to shows just as much as I do, but this will be his first live PJ show. Should be a fun night for sure!

In GA for both Oakland shows to finish out our California road trip. Driving our truck camper down from Montana and starting in San Diego, can't wait!

Now, to find a safe spot to camp for two nights in Oakland...any locals have some beta?

I'll be there.  We pulled off a miracle.  One of my best friends who moved to Texas is meeting us there.  We already had GA tickets for each night, and pulled off getting him a single GA for each night.   Going to be great!

I will be there both nights.  Not sure if I missed this on another thread, but can anyone recommend some decent hotels to stay at?  A buddy and I are flying in late on the 11th.  Going to just stay at a hotel next to the airport that night. We want to then stay two nights at a decent hotel that is close to the BART, but in a nice safe area.  Union Square seems closest but I am reading mixed reviews on safety.  Was thinking Nob Hill.  Any help would be appreciated.  Can't wait for the shows.

This is a nice hotel on the waterfront in Oakland. Lots of walkable places to eat and drink. You can definitely walk to Bart, but it's a little bit of a trek up Broadway. Not too bad. You can also catch the ferry over to SF right from there. Nice ride.

Thank you so much for the tips.  We ended up booking in Union Square.  I want to see some sites during the day, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.  Seems like easy walk to the BART.  Maybe check out some of the Oakland recommendations when we head over before the shows.

No problem. There are many great things to do in Oakland. I used to live there, but moved to Vallejo into a bigger house. Everyone always wants to go to SF, but it's really gone downhill in the last 10. Still cool things to do there, as well. If anyone needs any more specific things to do in Oakland and beyond, let me know. Glad to help.

Husband and I are driving our camper out from MT to do the SD-LA-OAK run. Found campgrounds on the beach in SD & LA but struggling to figure out where to park and sleep near Oakland. Thinking we'll head out to the hills and take a long uber ride or Bart to/from the venue. If any locals have advice for a safe spot to park a camper for 2 nights, lmk. Thanks!

I'm in. Oddly, nonstops from STL to the Bay Area were recently discontinued, but after holding these tix for two years I had to find a way to get there. Can't wait!

My recommendation would be to take an Uber and avoid BART, well at least on Friday when the Angels are in town. Of course with the little attendance the A's have been managing, maybe BART won't be as crammed as it normally is on a home game night.

Thanks, but I don't know Uber either.

Yeah, I saw the A's are playing the Angels on Friday.  Lets HOPE that game is over by 10:00 and MOST of that crowd, or the little crowd, that's there is gone.

Just go down the stairs and buy a ticket at the kiosks on the wall. put enough money in for a round trip to the coliseum and back. then swipe the ticket at the turnstile and go in. Pay attention to make sure you're waiting on the right platform, ask someone if you're not sure. The front desk at the hotel may even sell BART tickets. at any rate they're good for asking for advice as well. I don't know what the situation is going to be like trying to get an uber after the show, I imagine it'll be swarmed with folks trying to do the same thing. the BART would be the best option I think.

when at BART Station, buying your roundtrip to Oakland Coliseum and back, keep it handy, secure for your way back. I think it is a good idea- cuz didn't feel like loading the pass, after the events- seen plenty of others do that, though-lol. Sometimes lines of them. just sayin'.

Haight-Ashbury is cool to check out.  Fisherman's Wharf is the quintessential tourist spot in SF and is a nice place to have a stroll.

If you like hiking, check out Muir Woods.......not sure if BART can get you there.
