Kept checking Google Play books at midnight to see if my pre-order came through. It was a nice surprise when I woke up. Hardcover on the way as well
I know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.

Just finished reading the book! Hyden is as good a Pearl Jam historian as any - although he gets a couple very minor things wrong about the band’s setlist history - and makes some frankly amazing insights about this band, their music, and the ability of both to stand the test of time. And best of all, he is able to relate all of these insights back to the experience of being a fan, and writes eloquently about why all of this - the band, their music, their live shows - means so much in the context of our own lived experience. Deeply moving stuff. Especially for Gen Xers.

TW for fans that think the band can do no wrong though. He doesn’t have many nice things to say about Avocado through Lightning Bolt.

interesting....I'm not a fan of Backspacer but LB was ok. Gigaton much better than LB in my opinion. And Avocado kicked ass so now I question his angle.

Why is this book not being discussed more. There are probably 50 big talking points to be discussed. Some great details, and overall a fascinating read/listen. It really humanizes the band. It also illustrates how much they probably have in that treasure trove and why some may never see light of day, others will never be finished.

I truly wonder after reading this and seeing the band tone it down the last 6 years what will happen next. All of the seedlings for Eddie to break away are there. I dont think Jeff wants to tour anymore. Josh is around now. Watt singing Cornell parts to hunger strike at Ohana. If they want to burn out rather than fade away is this the time?

Read the book your opinion of each member and how long they have been going at it may set off some thinking that change is in the air like it did for me.

I dunno...after listening to the episode, Brian Hyatt doesn't seem to be much of a fan of our band.

I just started and read chapter 1 last night. Honestly I am not sure how Falling Down has evaded me. I have never really paid much attention to it but what a great song and it's only been played once.

Are there photos of the band in this book or strictly a straight read?
