Yeah, arena x 10000.  I'm past the point of even desiring to go too a stadium show.

This is playing out how I thought it would. I was surprised how much talk there seems to be about ballpark shows. I guess getting a ballpark show is better than getting no show, but yes, having been to both, arena hands down.

Would depend on the ballpark or the arena. I've loved every ballpark show I've been to. I also think we sometimes act like some arenas are tinier and more intimate than many are.

Ballpark was a great one-off/limited concept. But after being shuffled off the field twice from rain in Chicago I wouldn’t mind some enclosed venue options and the occasional outdoor destination spectacle.

Never been to a ballpark show, but if given the choice between the two, no contest.

Venue vs venue arena wins hands down but that said some of the best shows I have seen were ballpark shows. Fenway 2 2016 Wrigley 2 2016 and Seattle 2 2018 were all amazing.

I've only been to ballpark shows at Fenway, and the shows were great, but the overall experience is terrible. I just don't like going to Fenway. It's expensive and uncomfortable. I'm willing to try a more modern stadium. Although, I will say that some of Fenway's notoriously bad sight lines are great for shows.

I have been on strike for any and all ballpark shows. Might change for RHCP this year, but only because I can get cheap tickets.

Yeah, a better comparison poll would be outdoor amphitheaters or indoor arenas

This is where arenas are the easy answer for me. Most arenas are downtown, easily accessible and near tons of hotels. Too many sheds are out in the sticks.

Only thing about a stadium or ballpark is it might be a little easier to get a ticket

Sheds. I do not understand why they won't play ampitheaters anymore.

They play one in Berlin (not that that is helpful to you guys)

I’ve seen 39 PJ shows since 2003, and they are SO MUCH BETTER in an arena. The crowds are louder, more intimate, they sound heavier, and it’s hard to find a bad seat. Outside shows have a dull sound and if you’re not close to the stage you can feel like you’re not even a participant. The only exception of the shows I’ve seen when the outdoor venue shows were great are Gorge 2005 and 2006, Fenway 2 2016 and Berlin 2018. Wrigley, Milan 2014, Rome 2018, etc I felt like they were playing to the GA.

A return to the Gorge has to happen asap

Yeah, the sound alone is why I would take an enclosed arena over a ballpark or shed.

Granted, it's been some time since I've experienced bad sound at a ballpark, but everything is louder in an enclosed space.

I went ballpark.  Arena shows get SO loud it is uncomfortable, even with hearing protection. An  even sound is much harder to achieve indoors, where an outdoor venue will likely offer better sound across the board. Not saying the sound is better outdoors, just have a better chance at getting bad sound in some locations indoors because that's how sound works. Sound in Cincy 2013 was horrible in my section, walked the aisle a couple sections and it sounded great. Nature of the beast.

A third choice, Amphitheater, would be my actual vote. Closer reserved seats available, yet outdoors.

I dig the arena offers reserved seats closer than a ballpark, so that's a win for many. Reserved seats on the field at Wrigley were probably farther away than a decent side seat at an arena, so by the odds I would have a better view in an arena.

But, if I have choice of seat in venue, I'm going with ballpark.
It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.

Berlin is an arena really not a stadium just its outdoors, great venue (both of them) can't wait to go back
