I'm not going to call everyone a pro pedophile but that doesn't mean her record shouldn't be looked at. She's had 14 child porn cases in front of her. The 8 listed above were ones that she went lighter on. Going light on 8 of 14 doesn't have the best optics. Say what you want but then ask victims of these crimes how they feel.

As you may or may not have noticed, out of these 8, 6 of these are lower than the sentencing guideline. It is not the fault of congress that this judge went lighter than the sentencing guidelines.Sex crimes involving children should get no leniency. Ask the victims of sex crimes how they feel about it.

You want to engage in a disingenuous argument? Well then you go and read some articles and find out for yourself. It's not hard to do. The article I linked to mentions some of them.
Stop falling for the bullshit. There is more to the story than snappy headlines or out of context soundbites or some random chart some bot on twitter tweeted that gets passed around the right wing ecosphere like candy.....but they know so many of their constituents only bother to consume that much of the story. Dig deeper. Prove them wrong.

If everyone was punished to the full extent of the law for these types of crimes that would mean someone who accidentally clicked on one of these videos gets the same sentence as the sicko who actually filmed the video, or the sicko who watched it and others like it hundreds and hundreds of times. That does not make any sense.

Prosecutors will generally push for jail terms to the fullest extent of those possible under law, particularly in the US, where such things are political rather than evidence-based. Defense attorneys will generally push for the lightest sentence possible under the law. It is the job of the judge to listen to the evidence, weigh competing factors and decide on the appropriate sentence. Any judge who is consistently deciding on the harshest possible sentence is not doing their job, because each case has both aggravating and mitigating factors.
And of course that is totally separate from what evidence suggests reduces risk, which is different than what the public may loudly call for.
A quick look at the Hawkins case shows why the sentence was lighter than the recommendation of prosecution, for valid reasons.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -

Sorry you went through that. But, seriously man....dig deeper than just a random chart making its way through twitter. The problem is not KBJ. Congress can set stiffer penalties if they want to. There's nothing out of the ordinary with how she's ruled.Post edited by Kat onwww.myspace.com0 -

Next point - it's been explained numerous times that the sentencing guidelines (on which presumably sentencing recommendations are generated) are dated and flawed, particularly with pornographic content in the era of the internet. This adds more credence to needing to see what Jackson's peers have done on similar cases.
Next - on giving the full sentencing, think about the impact on the USA's notoriously overcrowded prisons.
Finally, the comment about giving full sentencing to any category is a great reason for you not to be a judge, who by definition are meant to be reasonable and nuanced. To me, a fixed sentencing policy from a Judge to me, would be outrageous, unreasonable, and lacking the nuance the job requires.
