Why do you think that a region in a country can just vote to make themselves independent?  Would we allow that to happen?  Would Canada allow Quebec to break-away?  In what world do you live in where that could happen?  Yes Donbas is primarily Russian speaking, but that was because of the massive emigration over the past 30 years.  If they want to be Russian, go back to Russia.  Ukraine should not ever just let them secede, and then take up arms against Kiev.

It's just amazing how you can think this way without drawing any comparatives to the rest of the West and how it/we would react to these very situations.  I might remind you that no...we would not let a region just secede.  Let me know if you need the exact situation where that was attempted.
