People like to say it sucks and then they sell their stuff on eBay to the highest bidder
What really cracks me up is all the negative talk about flippers, then people selling their clear Nc here for $200 before it even ships. And then others tell them good luck. Im all okay with that, but I don’t openly complain about flippers either.

Straw man unless you can point to a specific person who said A and did B. There are a lot of generalized statements about "people" in this thread but no one ever identifies a specific person who's actually being a hypocrite. It's like if I say I don't believe in killing animals for food, and then someone replies, "People say they care about animals and then they go to a restaurant and get a steak." Well, no, I don't do that. That's something other people do that you're attributing to me. Some people actually do have principles and they stick to them. This isn't to say that they're right, about ticket prices or killing animals for food, but they're not hypocrites.
Ed's chatter on the next tour runs the risk of coming across very, very badly.
What's the cutoff ticket price for his chatter to be acceptable?
It's a sliding scale. Over $200, no chatter is acceptable. Between $150 and $200, light eat-the-rich chatter is permitted, but only during the encore. Between $100 and $150, the main set is fair game. Between $50 and $100, harsh but generic condemnations of the wealthy are O.K. Below $50, it's a free-for-all. He can name names.
There an awful lot of straw man arguments being made here. Something to keep in mind: if an individual expresses an opinion, unless you can point to that individual expressing a contrary opinion, it is not a valid argument to claim that the person is a hypocrite because unidentified "people" have expressed contrary opinions.
Also, for the record, to the one poster who included Russia among the socialist/Communist countries that people aren't flocking to enter: Russia hasn't been Communist for thirty years. It is a capitalist country. It's a kleptocratic authoritarian oligarchy and a petrostate, but it's capitalist.
Okay, I know they aren't communists. It is just a country as you pointed out that was under communist rule but, have been under tight control by their government/ruling entities ever since they became a "free and capitalistic society". I was trying to make a quick point. I'm always amused when people go out of their way to try and appear more intelligent than others on the internet.

I was actually just trying to take potshots at Russia.

And I would guess a scruffy Glen Hansard has even more leeway.
You can see plenty of bands in clubs for under 40 bucks. That's 95% of my concert calendar. If popular, established artists are too expensive diversify your interests instead of whining.
The real problem is when a band hits a certain level of popularity they inevitably have to deal with some contingent of petulant, entitled obsessives
Listen, all I want is for my favorite band to be popular enough to pack an arena full of screaming fans who are fucking pumped because they consider themselves very fortunate to be there, but not so popular that I can’t always easily get a ticket for a price that I don’t have to think twice about. Honestly I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

But the ticket pricing you want is being determined by your budget, then undies are in a bunch because the band decided to not cooperate with your expectations.

'Eddie & The Earthlings is my favorite band' is something I've never seen written in this forum.
That doesn't mean it hasn't been said, it just means the next time I see it will be the first time.
Honestly it didn’t occur to me that the “band” referred to in the post I was quoting could be taken to mean “Eddie Vedder & The Earthlings”, but that is a very funny angle on it.

Edit: I guess we're having two different conversations.
Sorry I responded this morning... have a great day.

Yes, for sure a sliding scale. And BF25394 is pretty spot on.
And just FYI it is also Inversely Proportional for amount of Rare songs in a set. Below $50 is all hits and can be a Festival Set. Between $50 & $100 maybe a few covers and rare Tag. Between $100 & $150 at least Bee Girl Rare songs, but only 1 or 2. Between $150 and $200, maybe a one-off Tag, Getting into Strangest Tribe territory. And at least 3. Over $200 - Requires a New Live Debut song. Other rare gems and a story never told at a show before are also included.
The Earthlings better be practicing up on their one-offs. And now Ed needs 9 new stories.

I would pay $750 to hear him play Dirty Frank in the encore… solo
if he wants to try it on the ukulele that’s up to him. Glen joining in at some point and/or providing backing vocals would also be acceptable

If you put your thumb over And The Earthlings it all comes into focus
Complaining is a problem now? You may want to mention that to Eddie.
Well said! I can't believe he's still singing about the "haves"! The haves really don't have a clue, right Ed?!
I'll also say release the tracklist of an album or at the VERY least how many songs are on it if you are going to post it for presale. And especially if you are going to post a "deluxe" version of it.

I agree. This forum has always been that way. The previous version of this forum(synergy if I remember correctly) seemed to be a never ending contest of who was the biggest fan.
