I always thought Hit Me With Your Best Shot was about pick up lines. I have always been strongly against guns and gun ownership. I did not even allow my kids to have nerf guns or shooting games as they were growing up. My wife is Japanese and I think we all know their stance on guns. I always thought having a few Louisville sluggers and a couple of large knives (and fake samurai swords) around the house would be enough protection. I live in an affluent suburb where violent crime does not exist, but recently I have started to think it may not be such a bad idea to have weapon in the house or even the car. Highly conflicted but violence seems to be rearing its ugly head these days. I just don't know. What is also weird is that I was taught how to shoot .22 rifles at sleep away camp when I was 11!!!
Yeah I think she's reaching on that....whatever
As do I, but it's not like she's bending to some leftist mob. I have to respect her decision even if nobody was calling for it. To me it's no different than if PJ decided to stop playing Dance of the Clairvoyants because "I'm in love with clairvoyants 'cuz they're out of this world" is just too damn cheesy.

when someone says something has been cancelled, it means by society/"woke mob"/the left/the right/whathaveyou, against the wishes of that who is being cancelled.
now, for sane conversation, I also never attributed that song to anything acutally gun-related. I figured it was all euphemism for non-violent conflict, like most people use that phrase.

self cancelling isn't a thing.
Are you the final arbiter of “cancel culture?” Did NY cancel himself from Spotify and was that a thing? Or did Joe Rogan cancel NY because of his stupid Covid comments? Or did PJ cancel themselves for the NC show or did NC cancel them because of their bathroom ban? Were either of those “a thing?” And what about Dr. Seuss? Did the estate cancel Dr. Seuss themselves or was it something else? Hard to tell with all the hubbabaloo and ruckus in the threads and elsewhere.

Now that’s some real “responsible” gun owners right here. Wow, your 6 year old finds the key to the gun safe and accesses it so you decide to take a 6 year old to the gun range and teach them how to shoot? Now that’s being “responsible!” Does anyone really think they’ll do any real time?

Maybe the kid was part of a well regulated militia? Maybe the same one as Kyle Rittenhouse?

You want universal pre-school in the US paid for by the gubmint? Provide funding for and require firearms proficiency for 3 to 6 year olds. That bill would pass with 100% repub support.

You scoff at bringing a 6yo to a firing range…. Maybe a good 6yo w/ a gun could have stopped one of these school shooters.
Maybe we need more outside the box thinking to solve this problem that only happens in America.

Maybe if that 5 year old was a good guy with a gun, they could have stopped the 6 year old bad guy with a gun? And the house probably had too many doors?

Child is fatally shot on street in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood
A boy was shot and killed Wednesday evening east of Franklin Park.
Boston police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 28 Ellington St. at 7:25 Wednesday evening and found the boy suffering from “serious life-threatening injuries,” according to Officer Andre Watson.
The boy was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Watson said.

When I first heard she wasn’t going to perform that song, I just assumed she doesn’t like playing it and this was a way to give it up without having fans thinking “how could she not play her biggest hit?!” My parents saw her about 10 years ago. They said when she played that song it sounded nothing like the version we know, and she commented that after playing the same song every show, you get tired of it and have to change it up.

Huh, I might have thought canceling in whatever form , self or community, would have included pulling the song from all platforms(streaming, youtube, radio, etc) , you know scrubbing it from existence but nope she just decided she will no longer preform that song.......

seems like a failed cancel to me.
It’s almost as if “getting canceled” is just a catch phrase people like to use to perpetuate some form of victimhood as opposed to justifiable backlash for shitty behavior.
I don’t disagree a lot things have been blown out of proportion & people are just looking for reasons to be outraged nowadays, but if cancel culture were real, Mel Gibson & Louis CK wouldn’t have the jobs they do.
I have been noticing more and more blatant shootings. Whether it be in broad daylight or over cold french-fries, it would appear that people just don't give a shit anymore.
You would see it in cold hearted gangster movies but now it's more and more people are doing it. I don't get how you can go through life thinking that there won't be consequences for your actions like shooting someone over basically nothing?

Because basically there won’t be consequences. Of any import. Just another day in ‘Murica. “They threatened me,” or “I feared for my life.”

If u have an illegal gun and shoot someone over a cold french-fry, where is the threat? The laws were made to stand your ground, not for a misunderstanding.

But that’s become the de facto defense. “I complained about my cold French fries and then they threatened me, or intimidated me or made a move that I deemed a threat to my safety.” What’s different? Too many people packing. Why? Because the gun industry has convinced them to be scared all the time and lax gun regulated states are flooding strict gun regulated states. But hey, NY state is selling 10,000 guns a month. What a country!
Seriously, where or how did you see all of this play out? It’s the logical conclusion of more guns everywhere. And not holding “responsible” gun owners accountable, throughout the whole process from when it’s been manufactured, to marketed, to sale, to transfer, to when it’s ultimately used to kill or injure someone.

I see the people as being the problem. Whenever you think it's ok to just shoot someone over a frenchfry there is a severe breakdown in society. I don't understand why you don't see or want to see this?
As far as not holding them responsible? You have these people shooting others for dumb things and they are all getting jail time.

They’re not getting enough jail time then. You don’t see the widespread easy availability of firearms as contributing to the problem? Take the gun away and do you think they stab, club or beat the person? Some might but not all would. Guns make it easier to be a “tough guy.” And you’ve got 5 year olds shooting 3 year olds and what are the consequences? There was a woman who shot herself in the leg at a target the other day. What would be your recommended punishment for that “responsible” gun owner?
Do you think other countries have less angry people or have their societies not broken down? And George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse might tend to disagree with you to some degree.
