State or Breath?

which song off "singles" do you prefer?
I've liked State since I first heard it, but Breath makes a strong run for the title. truth be told, I can't choose.
your thoughts?

On a related note, is there a PJ album with a stronger one two punch of songs??

Oh, I'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired

SOLAT most def. I've always felt myself in the minority on this one. I think Breath is more preferred, but that may just be because it didn't get played live as much.

Breath......but only because PJ plays State of Love and Trust so often.

State!!! Love 'em both, but SOLAT has had me since i first heard the opening chords, and still gets me every time. Plus, watching the two girls in Singles dance to it makes me laugh...in a positive way.

SOLAT....my favorite song ever. From the moment I heard the little surprise (1992) to this day. I've grown bored with alot of tunes but I have not been able to with this one. Took 13 years to finally hear the song live. I am now complete. ;)

State, It took me awhile to realize that they cranked both songs up louder on the greatest hits vs the versions on the singles sdtk. But for years I carried the singles sdtk just for these 2 songs oh and of course nearly lost you by the screaming trees.
    Seems the more you make
    equals the loneliness you get
  • Breath -- it's probably my favourite Pearl Jam riff ever, and then in come Stone's octave runs... and don't forget the bridge... Sweeeeet...

SOLAT is absolutely amazing, of course, but Breath is just that little bit better, IMO.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.

Breath I think is peerless but SOLAT is awesome as well.

I love the "and the barrel waves, trigger shakes, aimed right at my head" part.
