I deactivated FB the day Meta announced they were firing their fact-checkers, which I think was about the same time when douchebag magee made it clear he was going to cozy up to Trump and attend his inauguration. I am now offiially completely off social media altogether, unless you count message boards like this, or YouTube.
It was a little bit hard at first - it was like muscle memory had me going for the app that was no longer there, lol. But after a couple days, that went away, and I don't miss it at all. I recommend eliminating social media to absolutely everybody. Now I get all my info from real news sources, without all the insanity and toxicity of the derelicts on social media.
the only thing I need them for is band news. No bands update their websites anymore, except with merch and tour dates. So it's nearly impossible to know what a band's up to without at least one social media platform. I tried. I got rid of twitter, and for all intents and purposes, no more facebook. But I need instagram for it.

Most of them have an email subscription option though, and send info that way. :)

Only for official announcements though. I like the regular engagement/content from bands that I find interesting; posting live photos, setlists, instrumental tutorials, etc.

Meta Whistleblower Sarah Wynn-Williams testifies that, "Facebook was targeting 13-17-year-olds. It could identify when they were feeling worthless, or helpless... and share it with advertisers." -h/t Zaamen Quereshi
