Don't know if this is an appreciated YT channel. I know his Guns N Roses channel and videos have gotten a lot of flack from the GnR community.

But this popped up on my youtube feed:

This seems like the rumor-type shit the 10C isn't too keen on.  You know, hearsay and the like.

    Enjoy!

Why does it "seem" like that? Every bit of information in the video is referencing a source and actual quotes.

    So, what is "hearsay"..?

lol. Not like something "explosive" is in the video. It's just a chronology of Dave A's time in the band and post the band. And him giving the band their biggest hit with "Beth".

Do what you like. I just remember other similar stuff posted about Cornell and others.

No skin off my nose so have at it. “lol” indeed.

I didn't watch the video, but I always thought it was because he embraced the rock star life, while the rest of the band was trying to pull back from it.

I've always felt kind of bad from him.  He joins the band.   Drums with them when they are the height of the success/popularity.   Life is good, then he gets fire, and loses it all in the flash of an instance.

I still feel he was wronged when PJ got inducted into the HHOF.   Dude drummed and supported the band on 2/3 of their biggest albums.   It wasn't like he was a replacement that joint the band long after it built its legacy.

I'll stop ranting.   I just feel bad for the guy.

The RRHOF snub stinks. They act like he was one of Nirvana’s early drummers, and not a creative force for the band.

chad channing got screwed too. i was glad that dave grohl had the class to admit that on that stage, not to mention saying to millions that all he did on nevermind was copy chad's drum parts.

Someone once said replacing Dave A was like pulling a bad ass V8 from a Mustang, and replacing it with a smaller, more efficient V6.

  • I thought the main reason he was canned involved him owning guns and enjoying them. You know, he was simply not of the same thread as the other band members. I also believe the song Glorified G (best song on Versus) was written with him in mind. I'm not saying ... I'm just saying.

Dude is the Don Felder of Pearl Jam. We all know it's a touchy subject, and we're not entitled to the ins and outs of personal stuff just because we're fans, but even the Eagles (and Grohl's Foos for that matter) let the former members with whom there was acrimony say their pieces in the docos. Jack, Dave and Chad should all have been inducted but I'd say since Jack was already in with the Chilis he didn't care.

Dave A was more of a cymbalist than a drummer. Horrible sounding drum kit and his overuse of cymbals, including tiny splashes and chinas and whatever was annoying as hell. Glad that they got proper drummers after him.  (sorry, not sorry)

Dave A had a great musical dynamic with the band. Seeing Eddie sing and scream with Dave crashing the kit in the background was powerful, and was the Pearl Jam I fell in love with. I think most people underestimate Dave’s contribution to their sound and music. He had flair and soul in his play, and a sense of funk. He also played rough and hard. Personally I love his use of cymbals, and I think it compliments most of the songs.

I love Matt, but I am glad Dave had the seat in the years that he did. Listening to State of Love and Trust from Atlanta 1994 at the office now. Killer version!

There was not a single thing wrong about how he used the cymbals when playing.

i always thought this 'reason' was laughable. he embraced the rock star life....yet the band was playing arenas, making music videos, on SNL, etc. yea THAT'S not being a rock star or anything.

This sums it up.   He was a great drummer, it was all personality differences.   This was debated a million times on the original message board years ago.   Dave embraced the rock star life style....bought new cars etc.   Dave liked guns, grew up in Texas so it was normal for him.   He didn't fit the Seattle scene personality.    But like Niko said.......his drumming was Pearl Jam that made PJ what they were in the early 90s.

    Like a word misplaced...nothing said...what a waste

ed's anger in those years needed that type of drumming. totally complemented it. but their latter records wouldn't be what they were without jack, especially, and now matt.

in all we've been very fortunate they've had so many skilled drummers that brought so much of their own style to the table that made perfect sense for the band at the time.
