I don't quite understand the logic why Russia's unencumbered conquest of Ukraine is the only way WWIII can be prevented.

Ukrainians’ current attitudes toward the war represent a decisive shift from where they stood after it began in late February 2022. Surveyed in the months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Ukrainians were defiant, with 73% preferring fighting until victory.

In 2023, support for fighting until victory slipped, but more than twice as many Ukrainians favored a continued fight (63%) over a negotiated peace (27%). Fatigue has intensified this year, with support for negotiated peace rising to 52%, the first time it has reached a majority.

That doesn't answer that plus I've been hearing about WWIII since the moment there was any resistance to Russia.

  • If I had a nickel for every time the "common sense" crowd declared that assisting Ukraine was going to lead to WWIII / nuclear war I would have a f ton of nickels.
What is the next move when Russian proxies kill US forces in the Middle East?

It's Kremlin propaganda that the American right wing media apparatus is all too happy to disseminate.

That's how it seems. Even after all this time it seems weird to say this but it really feels like the GOP just loves them some Russia.

I haven't heard anyone of authority say give up.  Should have been negotiating a long time ago.

Or, you know, maybe Russia shouldn't have invaded their country.

If someone breaks into your house do you negotiate with them to leave? Or just let them stay?

Unfortunately the Democrats don’t have the mental capacity to negotiate a deal. Can’t even get a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. Unqualified to lead or govern anything.

You defend your own house. Ukraine couldn’t defend their own country. Over the course of history if you can’t defend your country you lose it.

whats interesting about the take above yours is it forgets that Kiev was supposed to fall in 3 days. They're about to enter year 3 and Kiev still stands. That a country with no Navy forced anothers fleet to move . And if Ukraine never gave up their nukes, would they be in the position they are in today?

You’re right. But it’s easier to give off the impression that you’re a tough guy. Tough guys are ok with maternity wards being bombed and babies and elderly being raped.

Taxpayer money to cover up sexual assault allegations, hopefully that’s an efficient use of government money by DOGE standards.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene made a sensational allegation that her Republican colleagues in Congress have covered up “sexual harassment and assault claims” by paying off victims with taxpayer money.

The MAGA diehard made the revelation as a growing number of GOP politicians have expressed reservations about Donald Trump’s choice to appoint the scandal-scarred ex-lawmaker Matt Gaetz to be his attorney general.”

What’s your solution then? Another Afghanistan where you pump billions of our money for weapons contracts for Russia and Ukraine to kill and maim each other for 20 more years? Just wait it out until Putin dies of old age?
