I get it if you don’t find that low brow humor funny but to belittle anyone that does is ridiculous. I like crude comedy. South Park, family guy, roasts… the meaner the better. I’ve laughed at racial jokes during comedy skits or stand up specials. Am I racist? If those jokes didn’t take place at a Trump rally ( which they shouldn’t have) and on a stand up stage at a comedy club, no one would bat an eye. Sounds like a lot of comedy experts are on the forum. A lot of investing experts too. Anyone take their own advice a month ago and buy the dip?
Now take those same jokes and imagine they were made anywhere other than a stand-up stage. They shouldn’t even be made in a subway station let alone presidential campaign rally stage. That seems incredibly obvious to me.
Yea I literally said that. I don’t think a roast comedian belongs at a political rally. I also don’t think celebrities belong there either but that’s just me.

Oh I'm well aware. Just thought that was a very odd answer to give before an election, especially in light of that most of the projects underway through this act are in red areas. Meaning magafolk Republican whatever are the ones most impacted by the loss of the jobs that will not come if implemented

From Letter From an American, but I hate to break it to you, you elected a clown show of a circus. And wasn’t that what cost Bush I the election? They don’t even know their own history.

Today the Trump family posed for a post-election photo. Missing from the group was former first lady Melania Trump. Joining the family was billionaire Elon Musk, who supported Trump’s campaign both through his ownership of X, formerly Twitter, and then with $132 million in cash and with apparent giveaways to get voters to give the campaign personal information.

As an immigrant from South Africa, Musk is barred from the presidency himself by the U.S. Constitution, which requires that a president be born in the U.S. (out of the Framers’ concern that a foreign country could put a puppet in the presidency). But he is now very close to Trump and stands to gain significantly from a Trump presidency, both through deregulation and government contracts, and through Trump’s planned tariffs on Chinese imports that will enable Musk to monopolize the electric vehicle market in the U.S. Musk also would like a victory in the culture wars; he is strongly opposed to transgender rights.

After the election results came out, Musk posted on X, “Novus Ordo Seclorum,” Latin for “New World Order.”

  • So, tell me again what economic plan POOTWH and Bernie had that’ll help the “working middle class.” Hilarious that they fell for it. Suckers. Again from Letter From an American:

Notably, Trump has said he will appoint Musk to head a new government efficiency commission, and Musk has vowed to cut “at least $2 trillion” from the federal budget. Such cuts would decimate government services, including food programs and Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Supplemental nutrition programs disproportionately benefit rural areas, and Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are used much more heavily in counties that support Trump than those that don’t.

That will be a hard circle to square.

So will Trump’s promise to lower consumer costs while also putting tariffs of 10% to 20% on all foreign imports and of 60% on imports from China. Tariffs are borne by consumers, so by definition they will drive prices up. These two promises cannot be reconciled.

Yeah, I don't get it. I live in a rural area in Southern Illinois and I can verify that MANY families here receive WIC, SNAP and other government food assistance. Over half of the students in our county are eligible for free or reduced lunches. In a county of 15K residents, nearly 5K of them are enrolled in Medicaid. Trump got 76% of the vote in the county. When the cuts happen, people here will realize that they have shot themselves in the foot, just to save a little money on the price of eggs.

I'm still unclear on what trump is going to do to make eggs or whatever else affordable.

I keep hearing that people voted for trump on policy and / or the economy, but I have yet to hear what those policies are or what his plan for the economy is beyond tariffs which experts say are only going to make things worse.

I keep hearing that people voted for trump on policy and / or the economy, but I have yet to hear what those policies are or what his plan for the economy is beyond tariffs which experts say are only going to make things worse.
Nothing...that's the thing. Prices will drop normally just like they are now and he'll get credit for it. The magats will sing his praises for no fucking reason.

Gas prices increased when trump was in office and they totally ignored it. Gas prices tanked before he left office due to covid and they give him credit. The ignorance is in outer space.

I'm inclined to think most people who use the economy or policy as an excuse to vote for the guy are hiding behind excuses they genuinely don't understand or haven't thought through and just don't want to admit they like the guy.

Which I get, I wouldn't want to admit it either... he's an abhorrent human being.

So, tell me again what economic plan POOTWH and Bernie had that’ll help the “working middle class.” Hilarious that they fell for it.

The WH is going to turn the rose garden in to a chicken coop and give eggs away for free to all who pledge allegiance to the Trump flag of the United States of Nationalism.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I think too many people, here and other places, are overthinking the “whys” on all of this.

Approximately 20% of American adults are functionally illiterate (that’s close to 60 million people). Over half of those who can read, read at a sixth grade level or lower. When you’re options to educated yourself are limited, getting  your info from simple to read, facebook memes makes sense. They aren’t reading economic policy pieces. Thus the “We love the uneducated” comment.
