It's really a surprise that she voted to out him. I'm sure he did go back in a deal, that's what he does. But not a great time to stand with the lunatics. Bad call.
Trust is the most valuable commodity on the hill. If you can’t be trusted to keep your word, your word is shit. Particularly if Kevie reneged on a deal for her vote on something, funding for women and children in exchange for her vote for him as speaker. Nobody trusts him now nor should they. She’s probably figuring she can explain her vote to her constituents and reelection is more than a year away. This will be forgotten by the average voter in 2 weeks.
This won't be over in two weeks. I really don't know where they go
I know it won’t be over but your average voter will have forgotten about it or stopped caring how their representative voted in two weeks. The only potential resurrection with any consequences would be a primary challenger from the right against someone who voted to oust Kevie. Kevie’s leadership skills are questionable at best.
Looks like she's going to be ousted from her little club of GOP moderates

I guess we won’t have Kevie to kick around anymore, eh? Now go buy your wife a “respectable republican cloth coat.”
When Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced he would not seek the speakership, Republican members attending the conference meeting gasped. Several Republicans, including some who privately admitted they never really got along with McCarthy, said they greatly respected how McCarthy addressed the conference with a smile throughout his remarks.
Members in the room said many colleagues were crying as he spoke, men and women alike.
the crying is the same story trump tells at his rallies all the time. people that have never cried before cry to him and thank him for all he did for them.

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.)
holds a press conference after being vacated from the Speakership on
Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Senate Republicans are watching the rebellion against Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.)
in the House with serious alarm and are concerned over what the chaos
will mean for the GOP’s brand in the 2024 election.
GOP senators are worried about the party’s ability to govern over the
next 13 months and whether they’ll be able to avoid a government
shutdown later this year.
They also feel anxious about the growing radicalization of their party’s base.
The growing strength of far-right populists in the House raises
disconcerting questions about how next year’s primaries will play out
for the GOP and whether candidates with more appeal with swing voters
can advance to the general election.
“These insurgents have no plan and now they’ve created even more
chaos and it’s not good for the House, it’s not good for Republicans and
they have no clear path forward,” fumed Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the Senate GOP leadership team.
“A handful [of] House members just want to blow up the institution
and themselves in the process. Sad,” Cornyn posted on X, the social
media platform formerly known as Twitter, immediately after the vote to
ouster McCarthy.
Cornyn said the “unprecedented” situation creates deep uncertainty about what to expect in the coming days.
“My understanding is with no Speaker, the only two things they can
do, they can either elect another Speaker or adjourn,” he said.
Sen. Roger Wicker (Miss.), the top-ranking Republican on the Senate
Armed Services Committee, said the successful coup against McCarthy
“stinks, and it’s not good for the country.”
He also said “it can’t possibly help” getting the annual defense
appropriations bill or annual Defense Department reauthorization passed
before Jan. 1.
Senate Republican Whip John Thune (S.D.) somberly called it “a really unfortunate circumstance for the House.”
But he said there’s not much Senate Republicans can do about the situation except to watch the messy aftermath unfold.

I don't know what's so alarming? The writing was on the wall for this one.
So McCarthy is gone soon right or Gaetz is blowing smoke?
smoke...the GOP can't elect a speaker without dems so they're stuck
Where there smoke there's fire huh?
I figured he would be gone.
Dems don't get a free pass on this one. They wanted the chaos too apparently.
Wait...what? "The dems don't get a free pass"? Are you kidding? Maga brought this upon themselves. They are the majority. McCarthy is not someone that can be trusted. They'd be foolish to help him after all he's done this year. I don't think it is fair to even insinuate the democrats played a role in this dumpster fire clown show.
And now these idiots are taking a week off?! With another shutdown looming in 40 days or so? Further proof that maga does not know how to govern.

Whatever dude. That's absurd. D's are supposed to swoop in and save him, after he reneged on the debt deal? After he allowed this stupid impeachment to go forward? After his first petty act as Speaker was to remove Schiff from the Intelligence Committee (where he was previously chair)? After he goes on tv on Sat/Sun and blamed D's for the impeding shutdown AFTER they saved him by voting for a bill he put forth? Give me a break. In what world is the opposing party supposed to prop up your Speaker?

I agree with a lot of your takes but not this one. Those idiots and Kevin brought this on theirselves. There was a negotiated agreement with Dems and Biden that he went back on, a meritless impeachment inquiry, and with all that it wasn't far right enough for the radicals. This is literally all on the GOP. It isn't on the Dems to save them at this point. They have went back on their word too many times and the dems and the country have nothing to gain by making another good faith compromise with the bad faith GOP.
MAGADUMB owns this and yet they’re still afraid of the 800 pound elephant in the room. They still don’t have the balls, any of them, to lay the blame where it squarely belongs, on POOTWH. Kevie, Maggie Three Names, Matt Getts Off, all of those deplorables are acting on behalf of one person and one person only. And they’re still afraid of him. All those repub senators trying to lay it all at Matt Getts Off’s feet? Fucking cowards. Must be some juicy tapes in a safe somewhere.

Not only that Dems saved him by avoiding the shutdown and then he goes on ABC this past Sunday and throws the Dems under bus! And he has the balls to expect him to be bailed out again by Democrats 😂😂😂
Kevn McCarthy is not an honorable man. Maga is not an honorable party. This chaos has been years in the making. Their mess is not the Democrats responsibility to clean up. They own all of it.
Ha...I saw he's not even eligible since he is under indictment. There's some kind of rule that would prevent someone under federal indictment with a potential to serve more than 2 years in prison from being speaker. Of course Marjorie Greene already announced she's supporting him though.

Yes the backstabbing after they had a CR deal was likely the last straw with McCarthy, but unless they made a deal with moderates to get a moderate speaker, the replacement could be Gym or any of the others residing in the crazy wing. Or trump.

Zero point zero chance it is Trump. And that's for about a hundred reasons. Not even sure he's eligible since he is under federal indictment, but that's about reason six why he wouldn't do it.
Jordan, sure. Could be him. I would be very disappointed if the allegedly moderate members voted for him though. I think Scalise is much more likely, although being diagnosed with blood cancer certainly does not bode well for him.

I expected this so, hear me out. If you still disagree I'll listen to the points.
OK, (1)We knew that McCarthy was going to try and be ousted. (2)He is. (3) Now that he is ousted the whole govt is held hostage pretty much with that spot being vacated. Something you also knew was going to happen. (4)Next possible shutdown is November, next month. Why would you let the congress be in limbo when it took so long for McCarthy to even get voted in?
I get the GOP put themselves there, but being the dems you don't watch it burn or help it burn for that matter and say 'you started this'. Make it work like they did with this last midnight deal they did to keep us open for a lousy month. It's a game of chicken that affects our well being.
This is a shitty game of politics that both, yeah both sides, same same, are doing right now which is why they don't get a pass from me.
