As for everything else, I'm ok with. No Republican voted in is going to stop inflation and rising taxes. That is just a damn farce on the island.0 -

Haha! Good point!

Seen a lot of red maps of illinois on Facebook today😂😂. Of course they ignore the dark blue area that has millions and that there are several light red counties that were like 60/40 split. Fun day to live in Darren Bailey’s home county.0

Here in MN, the whole state is now controlled by Dems. It's been about 10 years and it's only a 1 person majority, but they've got 2 years to get the shit done they wanted. I keep hearing that OH, FL and IA are gone for Dems, well, it seems MN is almost gone for Repubs based on the last 16 years. It's a hopeless situation...0

Where is the outcry of voter fraud now? Oh that's right, they won...0

GOP is going to flip four seats in suburban nyc, probably control of the house will be thanks to this supposedly blue region. what the heck is different here than surburban areas in the rest of the non Floridian United States? Tempo? Jose? Anyone else from the ny suburbs? One of the top Dems was just on the news, spoke about how important this is, but sounded like he had no idea why LI and other NY suburbs were drastically different then the rest of the country. And it wasn’t even close. Usual blue seats in congress went double digits to the gop, wtf.0

It is ironic that if the dems lose the house by a few votes, it will likely be because they took NY for granted.www.myspace.com0 -

The reason for the "red wave" on long island is crime is up and bail reform was a joke. People aren't happy with the influx of asylum/immigrants etc flooding the schools.
When you have your catalytic converter stolen from your house in your driveway people tend to get upset.
The middle class is all of NY but the city. The previous leaders voted in seem to forget that but the voters didn't.0 -

The middle class is all of NY but the city. The previous leaders voted in seem to forget that but the voters didn't.Need to push back on this,Unfortunately stats don’t support this, as crime is up slightly, but still low historicallyWhen misinformation is able to penetrate the left in NY, trump has plenty of ammo to enter the 2024 race. We are his blueprint.
one thing speaking as a long Islander, it is VERY SEGREGATED here, and it looks like there are a lot of closed loop communities in echo chambers that created a reality where crime is rampant. The further from the city you travel, the more folks talk about crime. Distance from cities is also an indicator of trumpism. The island has less crime than the city yet Dems won by huge margins there.Random internet info-…Is it safe to live in Long Island NY?Living on Long Island is safe. The crime rate on Long Island is 59% lower than that in New York City and 80% lower than the national average. It's one of the safest neighborhoods in the city.
…
Are you visiting or planning on moving to Long Island, NY? You may be concerned about crime in Long Island and whether it’s a safe place. Long Island isn’t just safe, it’s the safest place to live in the NYC area. Long Island’s Nassau County was even ranked the safest county in the United States in 2020 byU.S. News! That considers not just crime rates but also fatal accidents, community spending on emergency and health services, and distance to emergency services. Here’s a complete guide to the Long Island, NY crime rate and what you should know about the area.
….Crime in New York City is out of control, as Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin and other right-wing candidates often claim in television ads and press conferences ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. But the Big Apple isn’t exactly falling into chaos — and the NYPD’s own statistics tell that story.
While overall crime has increased year-over-year in New York City last year and so far this year, the NYPD’s historical CompStat figures show that the Five Boroughs are still far safer now than they were back in 2000 — when Republicans held both Gracie Mansion and the Governor’s Mansion.
Last year, the NYPD reported a total of 102,741 major felonies (murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and auto theft). That’s up from the 95,593 felonies reported during the pandemic year of 2020, and the highest total since 2016, when the NYPD tallied 101,716 felonies.
But turn the clock back to 2000, and the NYPD catalogued that year 184,852 major felonies. Despite terrorist attacks, recessions, a pandemic and other societal issues in the previous 21 years, crime in New York City was down 44.4% in 2021 from the 2000 totals.
In fact, 2000 was the high-water mark for every single major crime category but one over the past 21 years.

I've lived in metro Boston for 16 years, and drive 40 minutes outside of the city for work.
It's always fun when my co-workers from affluent suburbs who never go in town start telling me how dangerous the city is.0
