She's right. It's time that conservatives rally against deep state, stay at home moms. They are nothing but a blood vampire on society. I think she unlocked the winning political formula.
First thing I read was that a spouse was eligible for 50% of their spouses benefits if they themselves did not meet the 40 quarters + $ earning value themselves.
This must be worked into the equation when calculating earners benefits right? Meaning earners are given less to subsidize these benefits. And if it wasn;t offered, would the earners benefits increase? Thus making it a moot point if its spousal benefits or direct benefits to the earning spouse?

It actually doesn't reduce the earners benefit. SS has some strange rules. I always tell people to visit the SS office and have them lay out all the options because they are generally very helpful in getting people the best benefit.

Yeah I didn’t mean it directly reduced the benefit. I meant proving SS benefits to people that didn’t pay in reduce the benefits available to people that did.
Send money now! You know you want to live in a Freedom City and have a flying car! And get paid to have kids. Send money now and make your dreams come true!

I’ll have to find more to read about it
I see what you mean but the benefits paid out aren't really based on what is left in the "fund." Benefits are determined based on what you paid in, what your full retirement age is, and when you start pulling benefits.
I can't say that I know the entire theory but spouses that have no work history receive benefits because there is some calculation made that says their husband might die early and that's why they make those benefits possible.

Tough break here. Kari Lake can't accept the VP nomination because she can't be both VP and governor at the same time. You have to give her credit. She is taking the Trump "make believe" strategy to the next level.

I could totally see her accepting the offer of running mate and going to Arizona to "resign" as Governor so she can participate.

Yep - just stack lies on top of each other until you can declare yourself a winner. One thing you have to give them though - they have truly fomented hate against 'the enemy' so effectively that this tactic has kept them as viable competitors for holding office.

They would rather an authoritarian government than share it with the people they don't like.
They're not even trying to hide it.
Which is why the only way to get through this is increased voter turnout and not angling to have the republicans change or have democrats change in order to convince republicans to switch teams. They’ve routinely been showing us they’re preference is to have democracy be destroyed over democrats being in power. Because democrats in power is a more representative government.
Arkansas Gov. Sanders signs law loosening child labor protections By Jacob Bogage March 08, 2023 at 8:24 ET Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) signed into law this week legislation that rolls back significant portions of the state’s child labor protections. The law eliminates requirements for the state to verify the age of children younger than 16 before they can take a job. Sanders believes the provision was “burdensome and obsolete,” spokeswoman Alexa Henning said in an emailed statement. Remaining state and federal regulations are still in effect, she said. Sanders signed the Republican-backed bill on Tuesday. Federal officials have pledged to crack down on child labor law offenses after regulators discovered hundreds of violations in meatpacking plants and after press reports emerged of children working in hazardous occupations around the country. The Labor Department fined Packers Sanitation Services, a subcontractor for meatpacking plants, $1.5 million in February for illegally hiring children, some of whom sustained chemical burns after working with caustic cleaning agents. Other states are also considering loosening child labor protections. A bill advancing in Iowa would allow 14- and 15-year-olds to work certain jobs in meatpacking plants and would shield businesses from civil liability if a youth worker is sickened, injured or killed on the job. Republican leaders in Congress tapped Sanders, 40, the youngest governor in the nation, to deliver the GOP response to President Biden’s State of the Union address last month. In her remarks, the former White House press secretary for Donald Trump accused Biden of caring more about “woke fantasies” than Americans’ economic concerns and called him “unfit to serve.” Several times she called Biden and the Democrats “crazy” as she painted a grim version of the country under their policies, asserting that Americans’ freedoms were at stake. “In the radical left’s America, Washington taxes you and lights your hard-earned money on fire, but you get crushed with high gas prices, empty grocery shelves, and our children are taught to hate one another on account of their race, but not to love one another or our great country,” Sanders said. “Whether Joe Biden believes this madness or is simply too weak to resist it, his administration has been completely hijacked by the radical left. The dividing line in America is no longer between right or left. The choice is between normal or crazy.” For nearly two years, Sanders was Trump’s chief spokesperson, sparring with reporters over his policies and rhetoric. She also acknowledged having provided false information in his defense. The daughter of former governor Mike Huckabee used her high-profile job and family ties to realize her own political ambitions, becoming Arkansas’ first female governor. House GOP to take early step on bill preparing for federal default By Tony Romm March 08, 2023 at 9:55 ET House Republicans are readying a proposal that would prepare the U.S. government in the event of a default, as GOP leaders and the White House remain at distant odds over the fate of the debt ceiling. The House Ways and Means Committee, led by Rep. Jason T. Smith (R-Mo.), announced that the panel will consider a measure Thursday that would prioritize some federal payments over others, arguing it would protect U.S. credit if the two parties cannot reach a deal over the country’s ability to borrow to pay its bills. The debt ceiling sets the legal limit for how much the government can borrow to pay for spending Congress has already authorized, and lawmakers must raise or suspend the cap by later this year — or risk a fiscal calamity with global implications. Republicans have seized on the urgent task to try to secure steep spending cuts from the White House, an approach that has drawn President Biden’s ire over the risks it poses to the U.S. economy. A default could cost the United States millions of jobs, plunge the nation into a recession and rattle markets around the world, according to federal officials and top economists. And it would force the sprawling government to make unprecedented, difficult decisions about the programs to sustain, since Washington runs an annual deficit that totaled $1.4 trillion in the 2022 fiscal year. The Republican approach, generally known as “debt prioritization,” would serve as an emergency road map for a default. Under the legislation, dubbed the Default Prevention Act, the GOP proposal would allow the government to continue borrowing to make payments on existing debt and issue benefit checks to seniors on Social Security.

GOP operative comes forward as accuser in sexual misconduct claim against CPAC head By Beth Reinhard and Isaac Arnsdorf March 08, 2023 at 17:43 ET The man who has accused Matt Schlapp, the influential leader of the Conservative Political Action Conference, of sexual misconduct came forward publicly Wednesday after a judge said he must use his real name to proceed with a lawsuit. Carlton Huffman, 39, a longtime aide to Republican campaigns who lives in Raleigh, N.C., said he plans to amend the previously anonymous lawsuit, which seeks $9.4 million in damages for alleged sexual battery and defamation. “I’m not backing away,” Huffman said in an interview with The Washington Post. “I’m not going to drop this. Matt Schlapp did what he did and he needs to be held accountable.” Schlapp, 55, has denied Huffman’s claims that he groped his crotch and invited him to his hotel room during an October trip to Atlanta to campaign for Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker. Schlapp’s lawyer argued Wednesday that by proceeding anonymously, Huffman was trying to avoid scrutiny of his own record — including expressing extremist views on a white-supremacist blog and radio show more than a decade ago. “I strongly believe we cannot defend this case — and it’s a multimillion-dollar case — without being able to use his name,” said Benjamin Chew, Schlapp’s lawyer. Alexandria Circuit Court Chief Judge Lisa Bondareff Kemler described “balancing” the request for anonymity with the public’s interest in knowing the accuser’s identity and the ability of Schlapp and his wife, Mercedes, to defend themselves. Mercedes Schlapp is also accused of defamation in the suit.

Apparently, neither the media nor supposedly sober Republicans have learned anything from the past. Trump gave a bonkers speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, musing about Russia blowing up NATO headquarters, claiming President Biden had taken the border wall and “put it in a hiding area,” and telling the crowd, “I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed: I am your retribution.”

The man who has accused Matt Schlapp, the influential leader of the Conservative Political Action Conference, of sexual misconduct came forward publicly Wednesday after a judge said he must use his real name to proceed with a lawsuit.
Matt Schlapp did what he did and he needs to be held accountable.”
Schlapp, 55, has denied Huffman’s claims that he groped his crotch and invited him to his hotel room during an October trip to Atlanta to campaign for Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker.
