Preorder link on paintedshield.com still not live -- that is, unless this is a digital-only release.

There's a lot of digital stuff there, none of which I subscribe to.

There is a great song called Painted Shield by an equally great band called Post Animal.  Stone is the Post Animal.  Coincidence?

Good news. Very unlikely any of those 1500 units end up here in Canada. RSD first means there will be more pressings later

Yep, but a different variant coloured vinyl. Hope many copies do show up here in Canada on RSD.

1500 means most stores will just get a few. I just went after UFO Live in Youngstown last Saturday. 1200 made. My store which is Vintage Vinyl in NJ ordered 30 copies and received 3. I got there at 4;30. I was 12th on line out of 150 people when thy opened at 8. I got the 3rd copy. I would hate to wait on line for hours and not get a copy of the painted shield LP. It comes with a bonus 7 inch with two Non-Lp tracks.
The 7 inch is the real prize for those that score this on RSD.

You and me both... but from what I could tell Canada got ZERO copies of the Nativity in Black run of 3000.
I’m not holding out much hope. I’ll head out and try to grab a copy of Sap and Painted Shield.

If I miss out... I’m happy there will be another copy to grab later
  • I plan on donning the Carhartt and sock hat standing in line to try to get Painted Shield and the Uncle Tupelo record.

Surely a non-RSD LP will become available? This album is good!

I doubt you’ll find any more of these popping up on record stores sites, but if you’re willing to be a little patient you should be able to find this on Discogs at reasonable prices eventually. Right now there are two mint copies up for $60/65, but none have actually sold at that price yet (looks like there were four copies sold via Discogs on Friday - when you often will see some crazy prices due to FOMO fever - but all were in the $30-40 range). There were only 1,500 of these pressed so each store only had a few at most, but once things settle down (and, if you’re really patient, once any further pressings come out next year) my guess is you’ll be able to get your hands on this on the secondary market without too much trouble.

And you guys are already working on new material, right?

MASON: We have the time. We’re trying to get Matt to do more. Egg him on.

STONE: We’ve got about three or four tracks already real close right now. So we think we might get a record done sometime mid-next year, maybe even earlier. Who knows? It’s going quick. Mason’s on a roll right now too.
