Bicycle Parking
Bike parking at Sea.Hear.Now will be available at the corner of 5th Avenue & Kingsley Street – near the main festival entrance. Cyclists must provide their own locks.
As of right now my plan is to park and then ride my Bike there.0 -
mcgruff10 said:mcgruff10 said:@mcgruff10 Thanks for the offer of advice on the area. I'm flying (solo) in to Newark on Friday morning. I'll have a rental car and I'm planning to skip Sunday. I found a reasonable price at Rodeway Inn in Point Pleasant for Friday-Sunday.
My main question is what would be the best way to get to Asbury Park from there on Saturday. Also, any other general thoughts or advice are welcome.
There is a train that runs from point to Asbury but I'm not sure of the schedule. You are about 20-25 minutes to the venue. Best bet could be to drive in. By the way Point Pleasant is awesome! You will have a good time down there. If you can order early (like noon) and get pizza from Rosie's (they sell out pretty much every day).
In 2019 we parked in a lot by the AP Casino (Cookman/Asbury Ave.) on Sunday. Don't remember how much they charged, but we got there relatively early and had no problem parking there. Very convenient location.0 -
I have a room, which comes with a parking spot, at a motel which is apparently right around the block from the festival main entrance. I was beyond pumped to snag it, until I did some further research reading reviews. I don't have a problem staying at a less-than-stellar place, but the reviews of this motel sound straight up scary - dirty rooms, dirty sheets, crackheads, bugs, boarded windows, etc...at nearly $300 per night! At the time, it was both the best location and the best price (now I know why).
Any locals familiar with Oceanic Inn??? Should I fear for my life? The reviews are that bad that I thought about eating the one night deposit and finding somewhere else to stay, but there is NOTHING out there now.0 -
I'm sure you're fine. Most of the time all that shit is overblown from a fear perspective. BUT I'd worry more about your expectations - dirty sheets happen at cheap motels. I would think this is an expectation when I hear "less than stellar" places. And more than anything my biggest fear (and this goes for cheap or expensive hotels) would be bed bugs. Just burn everything when you're done with it.0

The problem with Asbury Park is that it’s only started to bounce back development wise in the last 10 to 15 years. For years before that it was an economically depressed and a blighted area. Since then, they’ve done an amazing job with the development of the beachfront area and the downtown area. There are some really nice places to stay and spectacular restaurants. But unfortunately there are some businesses that have not made the leap with the rest of the town. It’s still a work in progress. Your safety isn’t in danger. But if you’re picky about hotels, like me, you will probably be disappointed.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh0

Although the person trying to get in could just be a drunk at the wrong room. Most of the stuff described is stuff that goes on in the off season when they have to lower the rates after the tourists go home. I’m extremely picky about hotels and won’t stay anywhere unless it’s a name brand and has an interior corridor. That doesn’t mean I need the Waldorf, but give me a Hampton Inn and suites and I’m pretty happy. I can’t do motels.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh0

What's the deal with Ocean Grove Beach? Do you need beach tags? I'm thinking the plan on Saturday will be to hit the beach for the majority of the day as close as possible without hitting the fest craziness, get nice and sunburnt, and then head over around Dr. Dog time.0

Also, we're all very lucky this show is happening:
"Firing up the whole Pearl Jam organization for just two shows can’t be easy. Are there plans for any other touring this year?I don’t think there’s any way we’re going into arenas before the end of the year. I think we’ll wait to see how everything shakes out. We have so many fans that travel, and that’s the thing that freaks me out the most. You see how bad things are with COVID in South America right now and you think about 50 people getting on planes and coming to one of the upcoming shows. I would guess that a good portion of our fans are vaccinated, but some may not be, and some may be immune-compromised. The last thing we want to do is be a part of anybody getting really sick or dying. We’re going to take our time. It feels like playing Ohana and Sea.Hear.Now is a perfect way to get our feet wet. Both of those environments are going to be crazily celebratory and it’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be so awesome (laughs)."
