    My opinion...the nomination was a great excuse to resign his seat in order to stop the release of the ethics report. The fuckheads very likely thought that the report would never come out and that he would survive the nomination process due to these threats that trump is making to the GOP Senators.

    So far the GOP is doing its job. I even heard one of them state that the confirmation process actually protects the president which is completely true. trump is just too stupid to realize it.

    How could anyone think that this all is the actions of an innocent man?

    No innocent person would have resigned the House before being confirmed. Given that he's unqualified for the AG position (which doesn't stop this president from nominating), he'd obviously have kept his seat.

    HOWEVER, I have a question. He's not just a former US Rep. He's also a US Representative-Elect. Is he actually going to be able to get the seat back and have the entire report abandoned on a technicality?

    it's entirely possible this whole thing was planned from the get go. He knew what info was coming out, Trump gave him the nom as a reason to resign, and now Gaetz, he hopes, will avoid the report from coming out.
