When Pearl Jam concerts resume will all floor seating be reserved with six feet between each seat?

That's what i think will happen.  I can't see them allowing GA in front of the stage anymore. Seniority may once again get you close the stage ; if you can secure a ticket. I think they will sell every third seat. If this occurs it will be more difficult to get a ticket.  What will this mean for tickets to the shows we are all sitting on?  They can't just reschedule the shows and let us use our tickets. They will need to cancel, refund our tickets and resell tickets in the new configuration. I think we will see PJ in the largest stadiums so the most people can see the band with social distancing.  It will probably mean 50,000 seat stadiums sell 20,000 tickets. Get ready! This is coming IMO.

I think any decisions like that will be based on scientific guidance.

To be honest, I don’t think we’ll see any real concerts with social distancing being in effect. Just Masks will be the bar to clear.

I don’t think this is possible. That would cut the audience in 1/5 considering how close together seats are. How would they decide which 4/5 of people would get refunded and not get to go to the concert they’ve been desperately waiting for?

    Sounds awful.

I also don't think it's possible.   To distance people out by 6 ft would probably mean an arena 1/3 to 1/2 full?

I'm not even sure how much PJ GA vs PJ seated would make a difference, it's not like PJ fans mosh anymore.   You're only as packed as they make you in the pits.

My guess is concerts as a while won't resume until it's safe to do so.  At which point it may not matter.

I’m not saying people would go for it, or that the economics would work, but if they wanted to proceed they could announce new shows to be sold at 20% of venue capacity using a lottery system and maybe a maximum of two tickets per member for that part of the tour.  The existing shows already sold at normal venue usage would be rescheduled to a post vaccine date and everyone keeps their tickets for those.

I don’t see this ever happening.  Beyond the fact that a concert under those circumstances would be very depressing is the fact that Pearl Jam won’t play any shows until the science says it’s safe for their fans.

If airplanes will have full occupancy with travelers required to wear masks I don’t expect we’ll see concert venues requiring any extra spacing between audience members. Perhaps GA gets seated but that’d be about it.

There’s no chance they play a concert at 20% capacity. Everyone involved would probably lose money.

I think it's reasonable GA just becomes standard seating. Social distancing is ineffective and the 6ft rules are incredibly random, arbitrary,  and completely ineffective.  The touching and contact in GA is the risk. Standing next to someone? Not so much.

Standing next to or in front of someone singing, screaming, and spewing droplets everywhere? Not great

I think we are unlikely to see any large-scale, arena-type concerts until 2021. At that point, you would think we're in a much different place with this virus and can go back to business as somewhat usual.

Right. A guy screaming along with Do The Evolution next to you is substantially higher risk than, say, bumping elbows with him. It's the airborne droplets that are the biggest problem.

To say nothing of the economics... Concerts, sporting events, etc. are not smart until there's a widely available treatment or vaccine.
    • The six foot rule of thumb is not some magical barrier, but rather the best tradeoff of efficacy and practicality for brief encounters. Over a span of hours, thousands of people sharing the same stale, enclosed space will spread the virus anyway, even if ideally spaced and 100% compliant.
    • Uncovered coughs and sneezes launch potentially infectious droplets well beyond six feet.

lol.  20% probably doesn't even cover the overhead of doing the show.   Venue Rental & Operations, Promoters Cut, Security,  Band's Crew, etc...  How much of a cut would a band most likely see from doing a regular show?  50 to 75% of the gate?

As a fan would I want to see shows 20% full?   A big part of the experience is the crowd.  It wouldn't be the same in a mostly empty venue :(
