WES is quickly becoming one of my all time faves and my car speakers have their work cut out from them when this one is playing haha. Really enjoy Q.E and Superblood.......Long way is a very solid rocker and I enjoy this one where Never Destination has a little bit of that Springsteen in it but it's a little different and it works for me. Comes then Goes is kind of like an Off He Goes to me although not there yet. Anything that Ed sings is tremendous but still growing. I can appreciate DOTC for being different and I enjoy it here and there.....just hasn't busted through for me. Seven Oclock is growing on me a bit but still not at the level of most fans on the board...still working. Buckle Up used to annoy the crap out of me, but somehow now I find myself liking it a bit more. Nothing I jump to but don't skip right away either. Retrograde is growing a bit and is kind of mixed in with my 7-10 grouping. Alright is still just that for me...love Ed's voice but it's not doing anything for me. Last but not least River Cross.......maybe by this time in the album I just want to get back to WES, not sure?? I want to like it and might just need more listens.

Really good album. Still very pleased with it one month in. As people have mentioned, even though the songs ranked lower are low, they're still really good - just shows the depth and strength of Gigaton. HOWEVER, I still say Of the Earth should have replaced Comes then Goes....but that's for another thread.

First four, I like...and continue to like more. Second four....take or leave but feeling like Pearl Jam to me and I will continue to like more Last four? Maybe they will be ones that I learn to love from bootlegs? Just don't do much for me yet and I almost always stop the album sometime in the last four songs where it sputters out
I am feeling pretty aligned to this. The first 4 (and, alright, Alright 😀) I crave to listen to. The middle, I find myself continually listening to in an attempt to have them resonate with me as the first 5 tracks have. The last 4, are not really doing it for me, and don’t see them growing on me in the future.
I’ve seen people comparing River Cross to Indifference. Sorry, not feeling that at all. If River Cross is played at a show, I can see myself running to the beer line. If Indifference is played at a show, I can see myself running from the beer line.
And, while we are at it, I have not seen much love for Superblood. That has been the track I’ve listened to the most. That’s a jam!

I ranked my picks based on how I feel today and then looked at my iTunes info for star rankings and play count. I've been a pretty big fan since 92/93 and this is easily the most exciting new album I've heard from them since Yield and likely the most I've listened to any of their albums after the first month of release. For perspective, the song I've listened to off of Lightning Bolt the most is Getaway ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ at 35 plays (after almost 7 years). My biggest surprises are Buckle Up (which I expected to be awful after reading early fan reviews, but really enjoy kitschiness and dark humor of and listen to every day while I give my wife her injections of medications) and Never Destination which I was disinterested and bored of quickly with the first few listens through and now really love the way Ed sings and the live/improv feel of the band. I like the meandering lost quality of the music which matches the song title. Also shocked I'm pretty "meh" with River Cross, which was a song I saw premiered live and really enjoyed and was looking forward to.

Put headphones on and listen to Retrograde, especially the last 90 seconds. Simply amazing. And then into River Cross. This has become my favorite part of the album. At first I was in love with the first half of Gigaton and thought it fell off just a little. My view has completely changed. It’s phenomenal top to bottom.

1-2 can flip flop, depending on the day 3-5 can do the same Top 7 are without a doubt, some of their best work since Binaural.

I'm not yet sure about 8-12, but my 7 favorite songs on Gigaton are:
1. Superblood Wolfmoon - best PJ song since Save You on Riot Act. 2. River Cross 3. Dance of the Clairvoyants 4. Whoever Said 5. Comes Then Goes 6. Quick Escape 7. Retrograde
I think the band knew what they were doing with regard to the order of songs, as the best seven include the first four and last three songs. I'm so thankful for this album!
