    Exactly m0jorisen.

I loved what Eddie said at MSG. It's always with me everytime I hear this now. :)

"I said faith in something bigger I don't know about that. It's faith that's it's all gonna work out. That's what it is.
    I believe it."

I see it as two lyrics, which is why it confuses me. There's big picture, and the picture right before me. That's not the problem. It's that they don't flow one to the other. I'll take a look at the lyrics again, to see where I'm getting lost, but right now it's the last part. I think the music may feature into my discontent. It's not like Alone or Even Flow, eh?

  • Yeah I'm exactly the same, as the first post. I've listened to it everyday this week, it's such a great song. As Matt said on VH1 Storytellers, the way that the lyrical content, by Ed, fits the musical content, just fits so well, hence making a great song.. Faithful is a perfect example lol

How, though? I don't sense/feel/hear it. What is it about the music when separate from the lyrics brings a image similar to what the lyrics represent?

I've heard that "Faithful" is written about a relationship between two ppl that have different religious beliefs, hence the term "a bridge that hasn't not been around nor been stepped on..."

Every time I hear the first two lines of this song I immediately think of the dual meaning of "bridge". The plaque says "certified priest" who thinks of himself as a bridge to God but its interesting they've never met, so how can he bridge his parishioners to their God?
The other meaning for "bridge": No one’s slept here huh? It's interesting that your God has given you this ability to procreate and you've not used it; what a waste, that's rare that you've not used your body for what it has been designed for...or have you? Some religions excuse it and some don't. Some priest’s say they're celibate but take advantage of little boys...it's sick but it makes my point.
The song I believe takes a firm stance against organized religion, even mocking it at times while suggesting that regardless of what your specific faith is, you are faithful to your own belief system as everyone else is and there is no right or wrong belief system. Those that believe "their way or the highway" need to relax before the world implodes.
