It's interesting - love this album, and my favorite since Binaural. Just can't seem to get into the last two tracks on Gigaton.

Listened to the album with headphones again last and damn Retrograde into River Cross! So good. That last minute or so of Retrograde might be my favorite of all of Gigaton. This is a really great album start to finish

Great song. But why the love for this song and the hate for Sirens?
No idea. Both have similar cringeworthy production that I can’t get past and makes me a little embarrassed that I love this band as much as I do.
Reminds me also of Speed of Sound, absolutely love the demo version, unable to listen to the overproduced Bon Jovi version on Backspacer.
Other than that, I love the new album and can’t wait to see a bunch of these songs live at some point
I gotta ask, how is it cringeworthy? Why are you embarrassed? Are you a music producer? Have you sold millions of records? I’m not trying to start a fight, just wondering if you wanted to further explain what you meant?

Gonna go out on a limb and say the majority of people posting on here aren’t either. But like everyone else I have opinions about what I like and don’t like, and I don’t like the production choices on either sirens, retrograde, or speed of sound. Not a ballad thing, I love the majority of their slow songs. I think all three have some of the best lyrics that Ed has ever written. Doesn’t mean that I’m wrong or right. I like buckle up, seems to put me in the minority on here. Same with Johnny Guitar.
Don’t really understand how my opinion would be more or less valid if I had sold millions of albums. I mean, Drake has sold a bazillion albums, does that mean his opinion of pearl jam somehow carries more weight than any of us posting on here?
I’m glad you like retrograde, really. After listening to the album about 500 times since it’s been released, I have to admit it’s grown on me a bit as well lol. Still in the bottom 2 or 3 songs For me but not an automatic skip anymore

last 1/3 is unbelievably good. Obviously Eddie’s voice has always been a draw and thats one of the best uses of his voice on a record ever.
