Sounds like kinda different, kinda the same. Enjoyable in the end.

Good enough for me

More excited after reading this. Any comparisons to No Code and being "meditative" are better than good enough for me!

Lots of the reviews are looking good so far, definitely enjoying the perspective in this one.

Normally I find that reviews are too shallow to be useful. I find that very few reviewers know how review music without having the listener hear the same song as them. I don't feel like this review was particularly great about describing the songs but I appreciated their description of where PJ is at this point in their career.

AV Club review is also up (https://music.avclub.com/pearl-jam-does-the-evolution-on-the-ambitious-if-uneve-1842068168). And Rolling Stone (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-album-reviews/pearl-jam-gigaton-964544/). Any idea why these are coming out so early? AV Club's March music preview listed the album as coming out on 3/13; I figured that was just a mistake and didn't think much of it, but now I'm just confused.

Generally Stereogum really aligns with a lot of my tastes, so I was happy to hear they enjoyed it.

They probably had a embargo on it until today (probably because of print mags hitting the stands) and PJ gets a lot of clicks, so they went live with their reviews.

I'm not reading any reviews, waiting to hear it and decide for myself.  Anticipation is an awesome thing.  I'm starting to get that funky pit in my stomach from excitement for new PJ.

Im surprised the album hasnt leaked yet. Clearly the album has been sent out to certain people with all the reviews popping up.

Rollingstone gave it 4 stars and has good praise for the album. They also give Bob Dylan albums five stars so I’m right back to not knowing anything.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.
  • Thank you for posting. An interesting and well written review that is largely geared toward longtime Pearl Jam fans with  knowledge of the band, their music, and their history. Very insightful. Enjoyed the read.

Unfortunately you can’t take RS reviews seriously anymore
  • I’m just hoping I get my CD from the Ten Club by March 27. With this Corona virus thing who knows if they’ll be able to ship it out in time especially since Washington State is effected much more than other places. I prefer my first listen to be CD or vinyl rather than off the inter webs. I want to make my own review of this album correctly.

I was hoping for a synth album in line with Dance of the Clairvoyants!

I hear ya. Waiting impatiently for my vinyl copy. A scientist called me and said “ Mixing Gigaton with a good strong edible and your Stizzi vape pin at a loud volume will make for the best listening experience.” Since my name is not Donald Trump, I believe in science and will follow the scientist’s advice.

True. The chants of people screaming for “Yellow Moon” at concerts is deafening.

Just because people don’t chant the song doesn’t mean people don’t enjoy it.

TBH, do people chant songs that they want to hear?

Some people do. They are called assholes. I really came to the show to hear you scream a request between songs. No one cares. Let the band entertain us. You wanna know the set list. Go see the 90% of other bands who play the same shit night after night.

    And I love Yellow Moon.

Great songwriter and lyricist no doubt. Horrible voice later into his career and the absolute worst concert I have ever seen. I know, I just don’t get Dylan is the response I usually get. But lord knows I’ve tried. And tried and tried. I should have worded it better, it should have said but they also give every Bob Dylan album five stars.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

Rolling Stone lost all credibility the day they published the Goddess on a Highway 5 star review.
