Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s some of the better seats. If it’s anything like a film screening, a lot of VIPs and industry folks don’t show up or use all of their allotted seats so it could be the same here
Post is many pages ago now but I believe they told the front of the standby line not to take off at 9 because it may take awhile for them to determine how many empty seats they have. So the waiting is maddening but not unexpected.
