I hold the first 6 albums in extremely high regard, if this has staying power it slots in right behind those. Just a tremendous work 30 years in. favs: DotC - haven’t wavered Quick Escape - the last 1:20, Mike and Jeff absolutely kill it. Comes Then Goes - is it about Chris? I don’t know, but that’s all I think about for 6:02. Who Ever Said - terrific opener in a long line of em SBWM - I turned this off halfway thru release, but now? That part EV plays out of the solo - fantastic 7:00 - grower. MUCH TO BE DONE...MUCH TO BE... Buckle Up - quirky, goofy, groovy bastard Stoney. straight off Moonlander which I love. Alright - perfect mood piece from JA after the blistering 4 tune start. Take the Long Way - PJ does Soundgarden. Matt delivers a blistering contribution with cool guitar work on a diff time signature. River Cross - perfect album closer.
yeah, I love what I’m hearing. Layered tunes, worked on for awhile, with great production.
whats not connecting yet? Never Destination and Retrograde.
pretty sure I read he's playing kalimba twice. Could it be that?
It is indeed a kalimba
This one will be interesting live! Will Matt play guitar and they really use the drum program? Hopefully we'll find out one not too distant day or Stone takes the guitar part since he doesn’t seem to do anything here
Whoever Said - awesome opener. Love the changes. Love how you think it’s over and then it pummels you again.
Quick Escape - belongs on VS. Should have been the 2nd single.
DOTC - still one of my favorites. Love it
Alright and Buckle Up - No Code territory
Seven O’clock - Maybe the heart and soul of Gigaton
Comes Then Goes - heavy stuff in those lyrics. He says a lot. I’m guessing that its about CC. I think even Josh said that. Again, he’s saying his feelings straight up.
Retrograde - Last two minutes are my favorite two minutes of 21st Century Pearl Jam.

Ive probably listened to this album 10 times by now. Im really digging it. I might love it, but not sure yet. Still digesting. I do at least feel comfortable saying its their best album since riot act in my opinion. Time will tell how i feel about it relative to the rest of the catalog.
My major critique at the moment is the inclusion of never destination. It falls in line with supersonic and let the records play from the last two albums. It just sounds silly and pointless in the context of the rest of the songs, but i guess the band mustve liked it enough.
This is a top 5 PJ album in my eyes, maybe top 3. I was looking at this track for track with other PJ albums, as well as taking into account the flow and unity of the album as a whole and it is right up there. It almost feels like this album should of slotted in between Vitalogy and No Code in terms of what it is. There is some of the early PJ hard hitting tenacity, and has an organic free flowing feeling like No Code. With each listen the songs seem better. Seven O'Clock is one in my eyes you need to listen to a number of times to truly appreciate it, and one that gets even better with each listen.
Holy fucking hell. Ok, time for listen #2.... brb....

And I think never destination is a top three on the album lol. I absolutely love the flow of the song. It has a very black, red , yellow feel to it.
