Its good that he got low blowed, let's see if MB has it in him to come back.
Warren certainly can fight dirty. Too bad her intelligence told her America wants socialism. But she's really a capitalist. Who TF believes a word she says.
Last leg? She's consistently polled as people's 2nd choice. Guarantee you she's in longer than Klob. She had to finally go for the jugular because she's consistently been cast aside and thank god she did. And all the talk that people wanted ol' Blooms or Biden because they would be best taking on Trump's bombastic bullshit and insults on stage and throw it back. Well, I think we just saw who actually did that last night.
I agree with the bolded part. I can't believe Klob is still in there. She couldn't have come off more unlikable last night if she tried. She was getting way too emotional over that simple Mexican President thing. She could have laughed it off and moved on. You would have thought Pete threw rocks at her house the way she reacted.
Amy WAS getting emotional. Not because she's a woman. Because she's thin-skinned. And she came off unlikeable to me. As did Bloomberg.0 -
We will. I'll hold that this thing goes to a contested convention. She made huge gains last night though - she'll rip back some of that spotlight from the rest of the candidates. And she raised $2.8M last night based on that performance, over $400k just in 30 minutes. And $50 from this guy right here.mrussel1 said:
I don't think Warren helped herself last night, but yes she probably needed to move all chips in. She's on the ropes. We shall see.Jearlpam0925 said:

I agree with everything you wrote about the format and the moderators. They were annoying the crap out of me. One person who didn't stammer through things, get loud about things, oddly switch topics mid-stream, generally appear to be ready for a yelling match, etc - and that was Pete.Bernie and Warren do both yell about shit a lot, no doubt.
Yelling's not a bad thing. Especially when you know what the fuck you're talking about. I'd yell, too, when I would feel like I'm taking Crazy Pills.

Then that's the environment people like you have fostered in the university system. An anonymous person, who've you not met, nor who knows your actual name or where you teach, can get you fired? Is it really that bad where you work? You should move to change that. Start reading Reason or American Conservative. They can help you foster the change you need to protect your career. Yeah I am disagreeing (I didn't even notice the bolded parts when I first responded). It's not sexist to find Amy (or anybody) unlikeable. And her responses to Pete WERE overly emotional. Not cool or calm at all.ecdanc said:

Nope, he's disagreeing with you. It's a political debate.
"Sorry I'm not perfect like you, Pete"
Hey so you didn't know the name of the Mexican President. No big deal, just shrug it off.

I personally think Bernie is hysterical...is that sexist? Ageist?
I like Amy, but I do have a hard time listening to her words when she gets mad and voice quivers. But thats the same for me as stumbling bumbling quivering Joe Biden and the gruff yelling voice of Bernie. In fact, I think it's Pete who I am able to listen to the easiest.
hippiemom = goodness0 -
I could get behind your point, if you weren't using my perception of Warren as the basis of it. I argued like crazy for Hillary against Bernie back in 16, particularly on this site where a guy named Free and I would go at it constantly. He was as Bernie Bro as it got. So I don't really like getting lumped into a Hilarization comment, which is a kinder way of saying sexist, when my opinion of Warren is about Warren and not women politicians as a rule.dignin said:

And my point is not to be specific, it's that these are the systemic images and perceptions that most women have to deal with. And that is the irony of the reverse sexism comment someone else made. The pedestal on which a woman is compared - and put under the microscope - as opposed to a man is soooo completely unbalanced - whether people identify it purposefully or not. That's exactly what systemic sexism, or any systemic "-ism" essentially is.mrussel1 said:

Furthermore, that's my comment about Warren laying waste to Bloomberg. All I keep hearing about Biden, and now ol' Blooms, is their "electability" (which is a fucking made up thing) and the idea that they would be perfect in the General in debating Trump. And now here comes old lady fake-as-shit aw shucks (to some) Warren DOING THAT EXACT THING and now it's "Eh, I found it to be trying too hard."
I mean come on. Also, the irony that I'm pretty sure this thread - and most threads politically in AMT - are 99-100% dudes.Post edited by Jearlpam0925 on0 -
I've criticized her policies pretty harshly, particularly her college debt plans which I think are completely regressive by definition. I was making a point about the optics of her performance last night. But yes, perhaps in the world post-Hillary, shrill is an adjective that shouldn't be used.dignin said:
Then I would stick to criticizing her policies, not her voice. I bet you didn't like it when others criticized Hillary's voice as shrill.mrussel1 said:
I could get behind your point, if you weren't using my perception of Warren as the basis of it. I argued like crazy for Hillary against Bernie back in 16, particularly on this site where a guy named Free and I would go at it constantly. He was as Bernie Bro as it got. So I don't really like getting lumped into a Hilarization comment, which is a kinder way of saying sexist, when my opinion of Warren is about Warren and not women politicians as a rule.dignin said:
I didn't say you did. You know my point.mrussel1 said:
I don't think Hillary was shrill. I only described one person as such. I don't think Amy is shrill.dignin said:
And they both get described as shrill.mrussel1 said:
Makes what more perplexing? From a political angle, the only thing Warren and Hillary really have in common is that they are both D's and both women. I don't see them being similar anymore than Amy and Hillary are similar. They are completely different politicians to me.Jearlpam0925 said:
All the more reason knowing what I know about Hillary and Warren that makes it that much more perplexing.mrussel1 said:
Not at all. I was/am a fan of Hillary and passionately advocated for her. You don't know much about me if that's what you think.Jearlpam0925 said:
Here comes the HIllarization again. Haha.mrussel1 said:
I agree with everything you wrote about the format and the moderators. They were annoying the crap out of me. Warren spewed some total bullshit about Biden and he was shocked, yet cut off when he tried to rebut. I really grew to dislike Warren last night. I think her earnestness is fake, her stories contrived and her tone shrill.Lerxst1992 said:So if you lie about a billionaire it's cool? You are crowned debate champion?
Its good that he got low blowed, let's see if MB has it in him to come back.
Warren certainly can fight dirty. Too bad her intelligence told her America wants socialism. But she's really a capitalist. Who TF believes a word she says.
Regardless, it's not a big deal. I'm not questioning your intentions, just word choice0 -
Interesting. I think Amy is more electable than Warren and Bernie, mostly because of her policies. I don't think of it in terms of sex. And I certainly believed (and still do) that Hillary was more electable than Bernie. But I won't argue that women are held to a higher standard than men. That's absolutely true. But I also don't think it's only men who do it. Some of the worst comments about Hillary came from women.Jearlpam0925 said:

You clearly didn't run that by your attorney.mrussel1 said:
Sounds like your suit lacks merit then, since I'm not in a position to make assessments.ecdanc said:
You clearly know nothing about higher education, yet you make false statements about my job performance in that area.mrussel1 said:
Then that's the environment people like you have fostered in the university system. An anonymous person, who've you not met, nor who knows your actual name or where you teach, can get you fired? Is it really that bad where you work? You should move to change that. Start reading Reason or American Conservative. They can help you foster the change you need to protect your career. Or maybe you're not even a professor, how do I know? But I do have an attorney, so if you want to work out a conference to arrange settlement negotiations, let me know.ecdanc said:

the difference is that I don't think I've solved the mysteries of philosophy going back to Socrates. You seem to think you have because you can bully your students. The rest of us don't play on that field.ecdanc said:
Heh. I'd love to see your evidence that human nature explains the things you think it explains. Be sure to demonstrate causality!!mrussel1 said:

*edit - no politician. I'm sure your friends and family care.
Also, I'm reporting your post because it meets the legal definition of libel.0
