Buh, buh, buh, a White House vegetable garden and encouraging healthier school lunch programs is communist socialism and violates our freedumbs!

    https://abcnews.go.com/Health/states-dropped-mask-mandates/story?id=76249857

They ended “mask mandates”.  That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear one, though.  They are leaving it to local businesses and individual responsibility, which may be an issue when so many people evidently need the government to tell them what to do instead of making their own education decisions.
They didn’t change science by removing the mandate (which never really had any meat to it anyways).
I have been vaccinated, but I still wear masks in stores.  I don’t get upset at people not wearing them like I did before being vaccinated, though.  It actually helps me be aware of the societal douchebags.  I have zero reason to be worried about others wearing masks now, but I choose to wear one to protect others since the science is still not 100% on whether or not I can still spread COVID.  If others forfeit their protection, even if it is marginal, I will have no sympathy if they get sick.
The government wouldn’t be in our lives so much if people exercised a little bit of personal responsibility...but I realize much of society need to “be told” now, like they did when they were children.  I mean, you have people spraying industrial adhesive in their hair, eating tide pods, etc...all because they were “not told” not to...
    Idiocracy for sure...

It used to be punk rockers that didn't like the government telling them what to do.  They were every govt's enemy especially the rep.

Now?  Who is the number 1 group that complains about the govt telling them what to do?

    Weird how this ended up...

What is really funny is that those same people have no problem telling you what to do.

The headline of the top story in my local newspaper today is "Henry says we could be in post-pandemic world by summer".

Dr. Bonnie Henry is our provincial health officer and the main driver of our policies around everything from masking to closures to how the vaccines will be rolled out. It's really good to hear that she thinks things will be substantially better by summer.

From the wiki: "In his first inaugural address, which Reagan himself wrote,[29] he addressed the country's economic malaise arguing: "In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem." Written by Reagan and Ken Khachigian."

And now after decades of repeating this kind of negativity, our government is in danger. The people who work in government should know they can do good and great things but instead of fixing problems, some want to destroy what we've had since our founding. I find it incredible and I believe in fixing something if it's broken, not destroy it.
    Happy Friday all.

Unrelated to posts above but something that continues to make no sense to me

Massachusetts still has a travel restriction in place for every single state in the US.  CT, New York and other surrounding states have all either stopped or loosened the “travel ban”

I can’t wait to move out of Massachusetts in June.  The travel restriction especially has frustrated me immensely since implemented in August.  I’m starting to really think that 49 states will be opened back up and Charlie Baker will still be stuck in Phase 2-3 of his reopening.

I work in a hospital and I can’t even begin to tell you how many of my colleagues and other hospital workers have “snuck” out of the state and even out of the country on Vacation.  And no one says anything because the hospital threatens PTO for any time missed, which really does nothing but decrease compliance. And the hospital  just says “well it’s governor Baker’s orders” so no one complies or gets covid tested

Lol, so true.  I had to fly a few times during the pandemic.  Had one encounter in like August or September where this one guy wouldn't let another passenger sit next to him in the middle seat.  He called the flight attendant over and started going "what are we DOING?!? WHY are we seating passengers in the MIDDLE SEAT?!?!"

I haven't rolled my eyes that hard in some time.  You're choosing to get on an enclosed vessel with a hundred other people and you're going to raise a stink about having middle seats full?!  Get out of here man.

Luckily, the flight attendant said "yes sir, all airlines besides Delta have begun seating middle seats again.  You are free to get off and rebook if these accommodations dont work for you" and then he sat down silent the rest of the flight
