I couldn't find the exact number in the few moments I have left, but its been reported many times that an overwhelming majority of cases are from indoor private gatherings. This has nothing to do with going to the zoo. 500,000 people aren't dead because people were enjoying outside and looking at giraffes. Something like 40% of deaths are in nursing homes, pretty sure they're not going to going to outdoor sporting events and the zoo. Anyone who choses to believe that being outside is dangerous is choosing to not follow the science and data.
Outdoors is fine, as long as you still practice safety procedures.

And 500,000 people didn't die from hanging out in their house for a year.0 -

As far as I am aware, most spread was due to family and friends getting together in households for extended periods of time, not wearing masks, etc...Post edited by PJPOWER on0 -

Why is everything black or white? Why is it stay home and do nothing or don’t even wear a mask at the store?
Neither side listening to the medical professionals and science. Very sad.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Maybe people under 55 can't spread the virus? Must have missed that scientific paper.
Judging by the responses here I can see why 500,000 have died in a year. Might as well just revert back to "it's just the flu".

And if you paid any attention you would know I'm a big proponent of kids in school during this pandemic.
But if anyone is going to take what the US has done during this pandemic as some kind of positive, I'm going to call that out. You guys blew it. The numbers don't lie. That was my point in my initial comment.

If the schools are safe to open...so are small business and gyms..
Even though schools are not that safe. They are just a babysitting service anymore...Give Peas A Chance…0 -

Yes restaurants have worried me all along. When distanced and decent ventilation they have proven to not be as dangerous as I thought. Problem was people and places haven’t done that consistently.I’ll agree that my statement didn’t include all the info so not a great statement.
But the science shows masks and distancing makes places quite safe. So why are people ignoring that?hippiemom = goodness0 -

So maybe we are just confusing a few things.
1) The US really messed this up by not having national standards and not enforcing standards and generally individuals not following proper protocol.
2) Separate from that - there seem to be a lot of data to show how to operate in a safe manner in this environment.
My question remains - for those that were pissed off at trump and the US response to ignore science...do you know want to follow the science which talks about open schools, opening businesses, how outdoor activities are safe (distancing the key), etc now? And if not, why?
