Hard to be surprised at folks on a flight from India being positive considering the way the virus is raging there currently.

Looks like Covid finally caught up with me. Tested positive after feeling symptomatic. Had 1 dose of Pfizer 3 weeks ago and scheduled for 2nd dose tomorrow. Didn't quite make it.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Oh man, that sucks.  Were you too public at some point?  Good luck to you.  Hopefully the first shot will lessen the symptoms

Thankfully you got that first dose so your risk of serious illness is pretty much zero.

Stay well and I wish you a speedy recovery.

That's interesting to hear.  I guess I didn't realize that.

Hope it all goes well. I'll actually be curious to hear how dose #2 is handled. (Taken on schedule? Delayed? Scrapped?)

I really can't figure it out. I work from home beside a few days a week and we always mask at work and I keep my distance and can stay in my office most of the time. Our kids are still distance learning, but our oldest has been doing swimming. They are pretty strict on masking and separating based on different blocks of time for practice, but who knows if he was asymptomatic. Rest of the family will need to get tested in the next few days. Symptoms have been fairly mild. Similar to a mild flu. Mostly an inconvenience.

    Yeah, I was being sarcastic.

I understand. tourism is threatened. It sucks, it's a global pandemic.

This is why I haven't got on a plane since 2019.

I was checking on that too, but it sounds like it's recommended not to get the 2nd shot if you are symptomatic. I just want to get it done, but I think I may end up having to delay it.

I'm genuinely curious about what Givn2Fly and 22scidoo think should have been done for the last year. Is it simply "Nothing. Just live our lives?"

They ask you if you are positive or showing symptoms before you get the shot, so I bet they wouldn't even administer it. You may have to wait a few weeks.

Wish you the best of luck. Also there is no way anyone is going to vaccinate you tomorrow since you tested positive. On top of the vaccine not being as effective you would be putting people at risk going to the facility.

Honestly, you are not "genuinely curious" because I have stated numerous times and we have went back and forth several times with ways in which we would handle the virus.  Are any of us right, who knows?  Do you think the virus was been handled well?  How would you handle it?  Can you please explain Texas to me the past month?

I have stated I would do nothing outside of protecting the elderly/obese.  I would stress the importance of exercise, healthy diets and lifestyles, and getting outdoors (Vitamin D! for the win) and take my chances.

Let me ask you, if we were not told for 14 months how big and bad and scary this thing was, and we did not see people walking around in masks (sometimes multiples!!), would you even know that the virus existed?  Be honest with yourself.  I have to think that answer would be no.  But we have turned this virus into a political weapon and no one is wanting to release their power just yet.

Now, seeing as this is not my first rodeo stating this opinion, I know how this goes...  MaxiPad will be by any minute to state, "500,000 Muricans are not around to answer" and a couple of posts above mrussell states, "Or for millions...don't live your lives because they have ended." which is so cute.  My answer to that, if we didn't know the virus existed, could we classify deaths as coronavirus?  See the examples below from Milwaukee and Illinois.  Not to mention the motorcycle wreck or gunshot victims that I have posted numerous times.  Obvious they should not be attributed to the virus.

Ask yourself this, do you trust China?  Do you remember the first the world heard of the coronavirus and the first image we saw out of China?  See the tweet below.  How come this never happened to any of the "500,000 dead Muricans"?

Maybe this will help your understanding of the situation in Tejas, but probably not. Because everything is the same as it was when POOTWH was advocating shining lights and ingesting bleach.

In the past week in Texas...
New daily reported cases fell 7.2%
New daily reported deaths fell 14.9%
Covid-related hospitalizations rose 2.4% Read more

Among reported tests, the positivity rate was 5.7%.

The number of tests reported fell 54.2%  from the previous week.Read more

Since Dec. 14, more than 16,745,000 doses of a coronavirus vaccine have been administered in Texas.

More than 6,561,000 people have completed vaccination, or about 22.63% of the population. Read more about Texas’s vaccination strategy in our vaccination tracker.

And its 567,000 dead 'Muricans. Yea, people would notice when hospitals would have been overrun and the car accident victim that might have lived, died instead. Yay, freedumb.

Let's pretend you're right, and the death toll isn't 100% accurate.

Total predicted number of excess deaths since 2/1/2020 across the United States: 553,644 - 672,825
    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm

What do you think is the right number?
