[[MEGATHREAD]]: Dance of The Clairvoyants [NEW SINGLE] - Opinions, first impressions, reviews...

Seems odd to me that people can express how much they like DofC but get scrutinized and ridiculed for not liking it. Personally, I think it's ok, not bad, not great, just an avg song. I'll admit, after this much time off between albums and everything that's happened between then and now, I was expecting something better, my fault I guess. Personally, I think some people on here are just hyped up for something new, just because it's new doesn't mean it has to be awesome but to each their own.CantKeepmedown said:

Nice. Cool to play these songs after hearing Dance.False_Belief said:molecule said:What songs from Talking Heads and Bowie do people hear or relate to? Would like to check them out.
I'm hearing Bowie's Ashes To Ashes in the outro vocals. Specifically the "My mother said, to get things done
You'd better not mess with Major Tom" part....🤙0 -
fair enough, I haven't seen any of that personally.DL136722 said:

Especially considering how widely liked it has beenI am sensing a trend here where some are inable to merely just say "the song isn't for me" lol0

There's some PJ songs I don't like. I was seriously on the fence about new material after "Can't Deny Me". For me, DotC is a pleasant surprise and just gets better the more I listen to it. I'm happy they took their time, pushed themselves creatively and am sure Gigaton will be a " plethora of delights, a fruit salad compote of delights" for every type of PJ fan. I respect people's opinions that don't like it, but there have been some trollish comments about it.DL136722 said:

Right? The people who get irate because other people posting on a rock band's message board like a song by that rock band are truly special.Tim Simmons said:Also my favorite takes are the ones where if someone has a different opinion than you, they must be sheep or lemmings.everybody wants the most they can possibly get

It is totally expected for a song having such a different style to have its fair share of people who may not like the sound of itHowever for example that poster above calling the song "a waste of time", and basically calling the vast majority of PJ who like it "a bunch of lemmings" before making a second post writing digs at the song again - reveal to me that the person is not really interested in a good faith discussion and sharing different opinions0 -

I was blown away the first time I saw this. That's when I really became a fan. Really just discovered TH in the last 3 years. Seems there's always good music out there waiting for you to find it, even if it has been 30 years.kotton_crown said:molecule said:What songs from Talking Heads and Bowie do people hear or relate to? The version of "Slippery People" on that video is worth the price of admission alone. Great stuffkotton_crown said:molecule said:What songs from Talking Heads and Bowie do people hear or relate to? Would like to check them out.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6bjnRrvx88Y

I haven't really seen that. The people being ridiculed are either being jerks about it or are crusading against it with post after post. If someone posts a thoughtful critique, they're not going to get jumped on.DL136722 said:

Can you understand the strong dislike? Pearl Jam was a bold answer to ALOT of this type of music that polluted FM radio in the 80s.
If you wanted guitar rock, what was the choice. REM? U2? Fine bands but not really much on the power chord.
Even metal bands were whimpy in the 80s. Except Metallica. But they really weren’t on the radio in the 80s.
Ah Bowie just came on the radio. Sounds nothing like DotC. Sarcastic comment deleted.0 -
This is not the type of music that PJ displaced, unless that's Kip Winger on keys and Sebastian Bach on backing vocals at the end. Nothing wrong with a significant amount of music that came out of the 80's.Lerxst1992 said:pjl44 said:
