RIP Neil Peart

I was always a RUSH fan 1st and every thing else no matter how much I liked, Just wouldn't do for me what RUSH did. But to speak of Neil Peart is to speak of a true humanist. Although he was anti-faith kind of guy, I think the creator will welcome him with open arms.
Neil wrote this,
You can fight
Fight without ever winning
But never ever win
Win without a fight
You can surrender without a prayer
But never really pray,
Pray without surrender
I just love these verses. But for me personally, Vapor Trails is the mans greatest gift to the world. I was at a very low point in my life when they came back with Vapor Trails. That album turned me around and got me back at the task. Everything one needs is on there because of what it is. It is his self expression of overcoming loss. He lost his wife and daughter within the same year. Spent 2 years riding a motorcycle all over the place, trying to find a way to heal.
Secret Touch ...BAM!!!
Rest in Peace my dear friend.
I salute you

I think I do too, GG! Somewhere.
I saw them in 1978, 79? I don't even remember who, if anyone, opened for them...just that I was in total nirvana.0 -

One of my favorite highlights in the many times seeing them was the Hold Your Fire tour was when they played Red Sector A I screamed that's one of my favorites. The girl behind me just about yelled said the same, I turned and looked her in the eye. She looked at me as if she didn't believe me. When the lyrics began I started singing them to her, she in turn sang them back to me. We stayed that way singing at each other as if we were rappers battling it out as to who would be the best. When we finished we laughed greeted each with high fives and a hug. Just one of many highlights over the years.
Lastly, on their final R40 tour I was see them 4 times but was only able to see one, I had a death in the family I drove to Tampa saw an awesome show and as usual they gave us everything. On the drive home one in the morning I started balling to the point I had to pull over. It dawned on me that was THE very last time I was going to see them live. I couldn't drive anymore of my 5 hour drive home I found a hotel to sleep my blues away.
Neil you were simply the best,
