I’d say the NBA is the fourth most popular sport in North America. Most people don’t give a shit until halfway through the playoffs.
It's actually 2nd to the NFL.
    by what metric?
    Every.

    TV ratings
    Attendance
    Jersey sales
    Groupies

1 & 4, maybe. 2 & 4 no way. Are there NBA teams that draw 2-3M fans? Only dopes and rappers wear NBA jerseys.
If I had known then what I know now...

    Vegas 93, Vegas 98, Vegas 00 (10 year show), Vegas 03, Vegas 06
    VIC 07
    EV LA1 08
    Seattle1 09, Seattle2 09, Salt Lake 09, LA4 09
    Columbus 10
    EV LA 11
    Vancouver 11
    Missoula 12

You can't look at attendance as an aggregate as MLB plays 162 games and in larger venues. But as percentage of available tix sold NBA trumps MLB handily (there are no Tampa Bay Devil Ray franchises in the NBA that draw only 69 folks to every game).

And maybe the not so thinly veiled racist thing about only dopes and rappers wearing NBA jerseys?

This “dunk the halls” thing on espn 2 (spurs/knicks) is pretty interesting. Kinda like a Nintendo Wii game. Also it’s like a few minutes behind. Guess they have to have time to get everything together with the animation and all.

I watched three of the five games to their completion and throughly enjoyed it. I think the demise of the league is overstated in many circles and there's no way owners are giving up those extra home dates to start the season on Christmas.

I do think the game could benefit from some changes....however I feel like all three major sports require changes (sorry hockey).

perhaps but I see no scenario where they reduce the schedule from 82 games, which is something anybody works in an arena in concessions, security, etc never wants to hear about.

I know. Ideally I think it would be better with a lesser schedule though.
