I'm an idiot because I don't listen to my inner voice.  I don't stay within my limits.  I'm goal oriented and stubborn an a mule.  (And don't say "You mean 'ass', right?"  lol)
Monday is a perfect example.  C. and I started out from Woods Lake near Carson Pass at 8240 feet to do a trail I've always wanted to do- the ridge trail from Woods up to Round Top Lake, elevation about 9300 feet.  I was not acclimatized and out of shape and about 1/2 mile from the lake my heart was racing about 145 beats per minute and I was breathing very hard.  But was I going to stop so close to the top?  No, my inner Rob Hall pushed on.   By the time we got to the top (C. doing just fine) I was close to passing out and knew I had to get down off that mountain.  Going down was very hard and by the time we got back to Woods lake, I was in really bad shape.  C. had to drive me two hours to the E.R.  where I arrived suffering exhaustion, vertigo, orthostatic hypotension, car sickness, and dehydration of dry heaving.  The hike itself is beautiful, one of the best I've ever been on.  But, yes, I'm an idiot.  Here are some pictures- the last one is at the top of the trail at Round Top Lake:

  It sucks to learn your limitations in an ER exam room. Unfortunately, for us nincompoops, we have to learn the hard way. I'm glad you made it home okay! 😊

@brianlux I have had my heart rate up above 160 for periods of running.  (Resting heart rate is in 50s-60s). You are ok with 145, I would think?
    Glad you are ok.
Gold star for you doing that hike but I'm sorry for you that it bugged you out.

It's good to know 145 isn't bad.  My wife was worried but probably as much by how dogged I looked.  160- wow!  Running also, wow, lol, I haven't done that is a long time!

    Thanks for good thoughts

    A tent is completely reasonable.

Everyone needs a little nap once in a while.

That can be a challenge in the office environment, due to the need for anchor points.

Thanks, Renfield.  I don't know of any other Ed V's, but please tell Ed, "Thanks!"

I'm doing better-  my brain only glitched a few times today:

-Lost my glasses for 20 minutes.
-Left the stove on the frying pan to dry it the whole time I was in the shower.  (C. told me I can't dry cast iron that way anymore.)
-Instead of water, accidentally poured electrolyte beverage in the tea pot which ruined C's tea.
-Put some yogurt I bought today on the fajitas  I made for dinner and discovered that instead of plain yogurt it was blueberry yogurt.

I think I'll do something safe tomorrow to practice my cognitive skill.  Like sweep the floor, maybe?

Damn, you are indeed off... it’s an Ed you introduced to me...Ed Viesturs /No Shortcuts to the Top.
Based on the mishaps of yesterday, I wouldn’t even attempt sweeping the floor until you’re back in tip-top shape.

@brianlux  Ed V (not of PJ) would still be proud of your climb. Hope you are feeling better.

I have also accidentally put flavoured yoghurt in savoury dishes, although in my defense it was vanilla yoghurt and thus also white. The blue colour should have tipped you off.

Fajitas for dinner sounds great, though.

Dare you to put up an ADT sticker on your cubicle.
    And a Ring doorbell
@rollings I double gog dare you to not only do that but to put "guarded by attack dog" sticker on.
Haha. . .you guys will appreciate this one...

when I first started this job i told Chad how everyone had their cubes decorated with big plants and stuff.

He told me to to top them by bringing in a tent and a house cat
    A tent is completely reasonable.

Everyone needs a little nap once in a while.
All about pitching tents at work.

Easy enough if you work at a desk, but I'd be careful if you work around any sharp instruments, heavy machinery, open flames, etc.
