Yes... any of these would be cool to see:

    RNDM
    a Stone Bayleaf/Moonlander set
    a Matt Wellwater/Cavedweller set
    Flight From Mars/The Rockfords

I think you can see where I’m headed with this...

    ...or Mark Lanegan  =)
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

No. Every opening band I've seen for Pearl Jam, with the exception of Ted Leo, has sucked.  Sonic Youth wasn't even Sonic Youth by the time I saw them, and I never really liked them anyway. Sparta sucked. My Morning Jacket I guess was ok but I was glad when their set was over.  Sleater Kinney is just god damn awful.  I don't even remember The Buzzcocks.
In fact, it's very rare at any concert that an opening band is any good. I'm usually just suffering through the motions to get to the show I came to see.

The answer is absolutely FUCKIN' YES!
My wishlist for next PJ tour opening bands would be:

    REIGNWOLF (!!!)
    Sleater-Kinney
    Filthy Friends
    Orville Peck
    Father John Misty
    Anywhere

I grew to really like Sonic Youth seeing them open for PJ so many times. I fucking love Sleater-Kinney so to say they suck is blasphemous. I was listening to PJ Radio and they were replaying the last show from “the Experiment”. PJ acoustic opening for PJ would be awesome too.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

    That being said...

    No to opening band.

Special guests...Danny Clinch, Sting, dude from aerosmith, cheap trick guy...I think that is great...

Except for the dirty frank tease that devolved into dirty water.

Multiple cover songs are far worse than an opening band. Especially when it involves special guests.

After 25 shows over 3 and a half years and alot of inactivity, I am going to enjoy sitting thru those six gentlemen playing sting or cheap trick songs? Seriously?

No need for Pearl Jam to have an opening band.
Pearl Jam cover songs are awesome.
Definitely no need to shorten Pearl Jam shows.

    That is all.

I'm fine with just the Pearl Jam show. No opening act for me.
We are all just waiting for the main event.
Wolfmother at Arnhem 2006 was very nice though. But I'm there for PJ and no other than PJ
No matter how cold the winter, there's a springtime ahead...

What if Ed opens for PJ?
What if it is 2 albums; 1 by PJ, 1 Ed solo? That certainly qualifies for “getting our minds blown”

Yes they should.l!! B) My experiences are with crap ticketing (UK) systems means delays getting into the venue a la 90 mins = missing 10-15 mins of the start
    Unbelievable

No. With shows that are up to 3+ hours long, an opener just makes the show too long for too many people IMO, especially for those in the pit.

No, almost every opening band they choose sucks.  Only way to top the level of suck they’ve approached wools be have some of the acts mentioned so far, like Gaslight Anthem.

Isbell and Sturgill are so far beyond this it would have to almost be co-headlining.

Last time I saw PJ with an opener was in London (2007 I think) and Gomez were supporting. Great little show and awesome band - but I'll have to go with Evening with PJ and get that 3hr set!

At least in the Northeast, Isbell and Sturgill are nowhere near Pearl Jam's level yet. The last time each came through on their own, Isbell played a 3500 capacity pavilion and Sturgill a 2500 theater. Isbell has played 7500 seats twice but as a coheadliner with Brandi Carlile or Frank Turner. I love both of those guys but they have a ways to go before they're co-headlining with Pearl Jam.

Yes. I do love the epic long shows and setlists but having other artists around them and the collaborations would be good for the band to help inspire some fresh creativity. I've always mainly enjoyed who they've toured with in the past too. So it's a win/win.
