An autopsy found that financier Jeffrey Epstein
suffered multiple breaks in his neck bones, according to two people
familiar with the findings, deepening the mystery about the
circumstances around his death.
Among the bones
broken in Epstein’s neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the
Adam’s apple. Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves,
particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and
studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide
by strangulation, the experts said.......... (story continues in article).
The article tries to drum up controversy when there is no evidence for it.
Breaks in the hyoid bone "can occur", says the article. Yeah, up to 25% of the time in hangings, particularly in older people, and particularly when there is a drop from a height (I don't think we know the exact circumstances of his death yet). Something that happens up to 25% of the time isn't rare and isn't remarkable. It does not say anything of any relevance about whether this was suicide or not, and it irks me that this is being portrayed as if it's significant. It's consciously egging on the conspiracy theorists to get page views, and WaPo (and other media outlets posting similar articles) should be better than this.

That is why I specifically posted the paragraph with the "can occur" in it. It was right at the top of the article, so I actually didn't find this too out of hand. Also, I will never really trust the conclusions of the autopsy. I will always think that is at least a possibility of foul play in this, and not because of the media headlines. I don't trust the US government, nor the rich and powerful, AT ALL. I will not put too much past them (although I still do not subscribe to the 9/11 inside job theory).

Not trusting the government in relation to the autopsy results is a different issue than this one about the broken hyoid bone. This theory just feeds into ongoing misunderstanding about how science works and how to understand causality.
I’m not blaming you, I’m blaming WaPo and any other media outlet that pushed this.

With all the craziness in the world and I’m just talking from the orange orangutan, this autopsy report seems as real as a fiction novel. I don’t trust anything I see anymore.
Hillary is quite beautiful in her blue dress but Bill in a similar dress in a painting, not so much. I sure would like to have the $ surpluses from the Clinton era though. It's a shame they're history. Happy Monday all.
NEW YORK—The ongoing investigation into the death of Jeffrey Epstein in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center reportedly uncovered a serious breach of duty by two prison guards, who were placed on disciplinary leave Thursday for allowing themselves to be distracted by a mischievous monkey that stole their key ring. “These correctional officers failed to perform their routine check on Mr. Epstein Saturday morning because they were sidetracked by a very naughty monkey that snatched their jangling keys, causing them to abandon their posts and spend several hours chasing the little devil around the prison,” said a Justice Department spokesman, adding that the employees falsified multiple reports claiming that they had monitored Epstein when, in fact, they made several trips to a nearby market, buying bananas to use to capture the elusive monkey. “We aren’t sure how the monkey got in, because the guards had actually fallen asleep on Friday evening before being rudely awoken by the cheeky monkey smashing its cymbals together, and they immediately left their posts after it snatched their keys and pulled their hats down over their heads, causing them to become disoriented and bonk into each other. Furthermore, we’ve determined that at about the time of Epstein’s death, one of the guards was dangling from the ceiling after the monkey tricked him into showing how the trap they had set for it worked, and the other one was locked in a cell after the monkey put on a grass skirt and sun hat to disguise itself as a pretty lady and lured him in. They are on indefinite administrative leave while we gather more information and also apprehend this naughty monkey, which is still loose somewhere in the facility.” At press time, Epstein’s autopsy had been ruled inconclusive while the coroner raced down the street, jumping repeatedly in a futile effort to snatch the files back from a mischievous crow that had stolen them from an open window and was flying just out of reach.
