Put PJ albums in order of greatness

1a)No Code
1b)Vitalogy
2)Ten
3)Yield
4)Riot Act
5)VS.
6)Binaural

I am not including Lost Dogs or live albums here. Lost Dogs and all of the live albums are classics as well imo. Let's not flame people for their rankings, everyone sees the albums differently.

Whats clean is pure but hey..
  • Oop's sorry...

And I have No code at #7

This was really hard to do because I love all of their work
so much but I guess that would be my order...

  • It is hard, because I would put 1-7 above a lot of other groups best albums out there. I listen to all of them consistently and cannnot think of one of them, that I would not listen to.

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

  • An observation, I see people either have Binaural real high or real low. I was wondering what anyone else thought about this. I was wondering do people like Riot Act and Binaural more as younger PJ fans because they were listening to them when those recent albums came out and they feel more of a sense of bond with them than they do the older albums, before these fans became fans? I am an older fan who started to follow them when Ten came out and first saw them in 92 at Lollapalooza 2 with RHCP,Soundgarden,Ministry,Jesus and Mary Chain....etc. I respect all of their albums musically but think that Vitalogy and No Code show the bands versatility and creative experimentation the best and from an album's standpoint I feel are their very best. I think Riot Act has a few good songs on it like Save You,Thumbing My Way, and I Am Mine but overall is not as good of an album as earlier ones. I think Binaural has a few good songs as well like Nothing As It Seems,Light Years,Soon Forget but it also lacks the overall quality of earlier albums. Anyway just my opinion, but I was really wondering if younger fans like Binaural and Riot Act because that is when they first became PJ fans of a younger generation?

  • riot act - - - vs. - - - no code
    - - - yield - - - vitalogy - - - binaural - - - ten

equal in greatness across the line, with a slight downward gradient equal to order of appearance.
  • Everyone seems to have very different ideas and favourites which i think is great. Goes to show their appeal and versatility. Personally, for me, i love it when Eddie and Stone write together. UNfortunatley, we didnt see that much on Riot Act, but it still has some good songs on it (Green Disease, Save You, Cant Keep, LBC, etc).
Binaural seemed to be a very individual effort. Very few songs written together.
For me the best albums are Vs, Ten, and Yeild where eddie and stone really worked together...fingers crossed for the next one!

  • Threads like this always seem kind of pointless because you will always get each and every possible combination (Or at least enough that they all blur into one)...

    That said here's mine:

    Vitalogy
    Yield
    Ten
    Binaural
    Vs.
    No code
    Riot Act

Except every third month, when it goes like this:

    Binaural
    Vs.
    Yield
    Riot Act
    No Code
    Vitalogy
    Ten

Did you know that there are 5040 different ways of arranging this...
And if we did it with pearl jam songs there would be about 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 different arrangements... (assuming that they have approximately 145 songs)
And also that they could put together about 10000000000000000000000000000000 different 30 song setlists... :D

Like everyone else who put Riot Act at the bottom of the list. I gotta say I truely love Riot Act. So for it to be at the bottom just shows how great PJ is.
