I haven't read a decent review yet. I think I'll just stick with having read the book.
Are they Crue fans or just reviewers?
One of the pans I read was written by a fan.
"Just reviewers," though? It's a film. A film reviewer is going to know more about the language of cinema and what makes a good film than a Mötley Crüe fan.

Reason I ask is the reviews I read everyone has read the book and didn't like the movie so I take them to be Crue fans. Someone not knowing about the band may like it though I haven't found anyone who didn't know about the band that reviewed the movie.

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't know about the band. Maybe @brianlux ...?

I have no expectations and am not a fan of the band and know nothing about them except I know some of their stuff from the radio, and I once ended up at a Vince Neil show at a casino nearby and he was totally wasted, got mad at the crowd, threw beer bottles at us and the crowd threw beer bottles at him, and then he told use to fuck ourselves and stormed off stage. I expect that I'll find this movie really entertaining. I'm not expecting any Oscars to come out of it, lol. I'll watch it this weekend.

If you're over 40, yes. Under 30, no.
LOL x 2 Funny, guys!
First of all, 40 was going on 3 decades. And of course I've heard of Motely Crue, but I'm not a fan. I'm not impressed by bands that trash hotels, do crazy things like dropping stuff out of hotel rooms and ruin their minds and bodies with to many drugs as part of their shtick. It's sad that people like Keith Moon or Bob Stinson did the same thing and paid the ultimate price, but Keith and Bob were naturally crazy- basically just that way. For guys like them it wasn't about trying to be that way or creating an image.
But as always, this is just personal preference I'm talking about. I have nothing personal against Motley Crue and I don't hate their music or think it's bad- it's just not my thing.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
^reminds me of the Denis Leary bit about how only the talented rock stars od paraphrasing.... You could put Motley Crue in a whole room full of crack and they'd come out half an hour later yeah let's record a double live album. Or... SRV dies and we can't get Bon Jovi on a helicopter, come on Jon there's a hairdresser in there.
We watched it tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not sure where I fit in Motley Crue fandom. Seen them twice (once opening / co-headlining with Aerosmith). They were pretty good live. Especially the opening/co-headling set with Aerosmith as it was shorter and cut out lots of filler. As they have some amazing songs, but only some
I don't really know much about the history of the band. Knew that Vince Neil accidentally got someone killed in a DUI. That he left the band for a while. That he came back. It was entertaining seeing just how crazy it was in their hey dey. Which I suppose was also around the time of GNR's hey dey (just a bit earlier).
Apparently there's a Pearl Jam reference in the movie. I haven't seen it yet though.

Didn't read the book, but found the movie entertaining. Found the costumes a little goofy lol, but very well done for a Netflix production. Jumped out of my chair when I saw the Pearl Jam poster. Best part of the film lol.
Watched the movie last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, but there’s just no way it could really contain all the craziness that was in the book, unless it was 4 hours long. I found they touched on some crazy highlights (Bullwinkle, Ozzy, Day in the life of Tommy) but left tons of crazy stories out. In fairness they kinda had to in order to give proper attention to some of the things that impacted Crue’s coming together and then their career (Nikki’s upbringing, Vince’s car accident, Vince’s daughter) The book is a must read for any Crüe fan and a good read for anyone that enjoys craziness and debachory.
It was ok. I cant stand movies where the actors talk to the audience (exception being the end of good fellas). I could not stop thinking that the actor who played Vince looked like Dana Carvey. I really wish Pamela Anderson's boobs made it into the film Never really a fan of the band but read the book and Nikki's book as well.
Just finished watching it, overall it was ok I thought. MGK played a decent Tommy Lee. The dude who played Nikki Sixx I thought was real good. Didn't care for the guy who played Vince.k. Storyline was ok. Forgot about Vince's daughter dying, that was kinda emotional.

I watched last night and enjoyed it. It wasn't really good at all, but it entertained me thoroughly. I had no idea Vince Neil killed someone, badly hurt 2 others, and lost a young daughter. What a shitty life he's had, really.
At first the narrative voiceover felt really dumb, but I got used to it quickly, and then it worked.
I agree MGK did Tommy Lee well, in the context of being entertaining and likeable. I have no clue if any of those roles were played accurately or anything... Besides Ozzy Osbourne, lol. That was 100% believable.

Only reason I knew about Vince killing someone was from the movie "Airheads".
Rock stars don't go to jail. Vince Neil only did 30 days and he killed someone.

I remember reading Circus magazine about this when it happened. I also remember he paid a very large (at the time) sum of money out to the victims families.

Haven't seen it either, but maybe its a reference to when Vince left and Nikki mentioned wanting Eddie to replace him.

It was tame though to how they actually were, lol.
I was hoping to see more of the other bands that they hung out with as Blackie Lawless showed Nikki how to set him self on fire.
I also completely forgot that Vince lost his daughter to cancer.
Was it faithful to the book? Hell, no.
Was it fun?
I say yes. But I'm a huge fan

Don't forget your Mötley Crüe T-shirt.
You know, all proceeds go to get their lead singer outta jail.
Also, I was waiting for Mick Mars to sick his dogs on the rest of the band members.
