this guy does not have a chance against trump. if this guy gets the nomination, might as well give trump the keys to the white house again.

This guy has an incredibly relatable way of communicating for me. I find he's got a good blend of inspiring and pragmatic. From a values/norms perspective, I think he's hitting a sweet spot just left of center which could leave him with a strong voting cohort if he plays his cards right. Whoever's able to activate the silent majority in that section of the spectrum, I think could take it.

Can't wait for Trump to loose it and resort to some hoomophobic slur.

My take...I don’t agree with everything he says or wants, but the guy is smart and articulate. He is terrific in my opinion.

If Pete was president right now, the response to the shootings would be totally different. Instead of divisiveness and photo ops, you’d have a guy that has experienced gun fights helping people and working on preventative measures.

I haven't paid close attention.  I think he is a very practical person that would take an analytical approach to decision making.   I think this is outstanding.   I think what he needs to do better at is connecting with people like Bill Clinton did.  "I feel your pain" versus too robotic with answers.  I believe he totally tanked at the town hall in South Bend because he tried to approach it like a professor when there is a huge human element to it.

I'd vote for him though.  I don't agree 100% with any politician but I believe he is a genuine good person who cares unlike our current president.

To me, I feel he speaks with the demeanour of someone who's been in academia for a long time. If he can modify his tone and make it more conversational and less 'prose', I think it would work magic for his campaign. God knows he's smart enough to dumb himself down if he so desires.

Tisch College Distinguished Speaker Series: Pete Buttigieg

Wednesday, September 16 | 5:30 PM ET | Virtual Event

Join Tisch College for a conversation with veteran, former mayor, and former 2020 Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Pete Buttigieg. Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Pete served as mayor of South Bend, Indiana for eight years and was a Democratic candidate for president of the United States in 2020. A graduate of Harvard University and an Oxford Rhodes Scholar, Pete returned to the Midwest after graduating and took a job in the private sector, before realizing his heart was in public service. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve and became a lieutenant when he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. In April 2019 he announced his candidacy for president and in February 2020 won the Iowa Caucuses, becoming the first openly gay person to ever win a presidential primary or caucus.

This event is sponsored by Tisch College, JumboVote, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and the Political Science Department.

I’d venture to say that Aliens will be here before this nation is ready for a married gay man or a woman president! We are way behind most sovereign nations on that front

A woman is possible but it'll have to be a conservative woman who spends at least a quarter of her efforts bashing feminism.

    video

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.
