It's what America voted for: an elitist billionaire to raid the coffers. The only difference between now & trump's 1st term is it's an immigrant elitist billionaire, as opposed to a home grown one.

Regulate SpaceX. Now Its Fate Could Be in Elon Musk’s Hands.

The Trump ally and DOGE chief is expected to turn his budget-slashing sights on the FAA’s little-known commercial spaceflight office, which has proposed fines and grounded SpaceX after explosions and other incidents.

When SpaceX’s Starship exploded in January, raining debris over the Caribbean, the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded the rocket program and ordered an investigation. The move was the latest in a series of actions taken by the agency against the world’s leading commercial space company.

“Safety drives everything we do at the FAA,” the agency’s chief counsel said in September, after proposing $633,000 in fines for alleged violations related to two previous launches. “Failure of a company to comply with the safety requirements will result in consequences.”

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s response was swift and caustic. He accused the agency of engaging in “lawfare” and threatened to sue it for “regulatory overreach.” “The fundamental problem is that humanity will forever be confined to Earth unless there is radical reform at the FAA!” Musk wrote on X.

Today, Musk is in a unique position to deliver that change. As one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers and head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, he’s presiding over the administration’s effort to cut costs and slash regulation.

While it’s unclear what changes his panel has in store for the FAA, current and former employees are bracing for Musk to focus on the little-known part of the agency that regulates his rocket company: the Office of Commercial Space Transportation, known as AST. “People are nervous,” said a former employee who did not want to be quoted by name talking about Musk.

    continues.....

It’s cowardice. There’s nothing Trump could do to AWS or Amazon that would materially threaten his wealth. What billionaire is willing to stand up for the Republic?  None so far.

The director of data science and engineering for what is now known as the US DOGE Service has resigned. "If DOGE truly was concerned with efficiency, they wouldn’t have fired experts in procurement," she writes, "who prevent waste up front."

Wait, you mean the media might be making us think something is happening that isn't?  That never happens!

Social media has eliminated the ability of the average person to be skeptical. We're conditioned- or as we used to call it, "brainwashed"- into believing stuff that isn't true.  I doubt anyone is 100% unaffected that way- we all get sucked in to some degree.  But way too many people believe WAY too much bullshit.  And now media and social media is bringing onboard the most clever deceiver of all-time:  You Know Who.
    Eh?  Aye!

But doesn’t it actually FEEL like this was true? That there have been more crashes than usual in this soan of time? Plane crashes are almost always big news, no matter where they occur. And it’s not just american media reporting on them.

Well, you have had 2 crashes involving major commercial airlines the past few weeks. Including one with 67 fatalities. That is out of the norm. There are frequent small/private plane crashes/incidents during normal times. Crashes like DC and Toronto are not part of the norm. It had been 15 years prior to DC since a commercial plane crash happened that had fatalities.

Similar to the conversation I had with my 12 year old this morning. There was another report of a small private plane crash on the radio and he was like, what's going on. I explained that the smaller private plane crashes are more common and often not reported on nationally, but the crashes with Delta and out in DC were pretty serious and uncommon. It's just that we're now also hearing about smaller non-commercial crashes too so it seems out of control.

I wouldn't directly blame the crashes on the current administration, but their response and gutting of staffing at the federal level make the connections hard to ignore and unfortunately karmically induced. Remember the bogus outrage at the Biden admin after the train crash in East Palestine, but then Congress stalled on passing any meaningful legislation because the railroad tycoons don't want to pay up for enhanced safety.
    It's a hopeless situation...
