Elon Musk

My entire opinion of him changed with this 60 minutes interview.  I would buy a Tesla 3 if I could afford.  Maybe someday.

In what way did it change?

I have not watched the interview and I’m unlikely to,  but I did read the transcript provided, which I’m guessing is a partial transcript of the whole thing.

I now have a better understanding of his crazy tweets, it sounded like he was sleep deprived.

But mostly I found him very personable, a real visionary...but as someone who genuinely believes electric cars are the future. His patents are open source.  But, the most impressive statement, was "if someone builds a better electric car and Tesla goes bankrupt"  Musk is fine with that.  Does he mean it?

His power wall and solar shingles are awesome too.  A billionaire doing something positive with their money I am always down with.  Even if they fail they are pushing innovation.

That's also what caught my attention, failure is not a problem ... he just keeps going.  Yes, a billionaire doing good, we should all be down with that.

I have reasons for having my doubts about the dude which I will not disclose here for risk of pissing off a few friends on these boards, but I'm also almost incurably suspicious of super rich people.

I would have no problem discussing your suspicions in this thread.

A part of what liked during the interview is that he does not come across as your typical CEO billionaire.

Yeah but CEOs are suppose to look out for his employees and stock holders. This guy doesn’t. He is uber smart and amazing in a lot of ways. He is an arrogant narcissist in a lot of ways to.

I would like to find out more about the accusations of worker safety that thevibterview brought up. They brushed over it.

I do see your point.  But that's a part of the reason I respect him, he is not your traditional CEO.  He doesn't even care if he is CEO, he says he does not need a title.  He handpicked his successor as Chairman of the board.  He makes it known the board will do as he says, he is the largest shareholder.

Do you know the cause of the water crisis in Flint? Who was responsible? And who failed or ignored it when it was known? And who allocated resources first to white, wealthy neighborhoods as poorer and predominantly minority neighborhoods wait? I know why Flint’s water is fucked. Do you?

Clean water is a government responsibility.  You, like many on here, are convinced that the government is good.  Then when they fuck up the water blame the good government.  Not sure why Elon Musk has to fix the water in Flint.

I never claimed he needed to or should. I believe you made the claim and then told me to read a list of dem mayors. Yes, government can be good. Perfect? No. It wasn’t “good” government that fucked up the water.
