I think they would have made it big, but wouldn't have lasted. AW reminds me a little of the Vince Neil, Jani Lane, Bret Michaels, Sebastian Bach category. Guys that wanted stardom so bad, wanted to play stadiums, and wanted to be a rock god (rather than reluctantly taking that on, such as Ed's style).bootlegger10 said:tbergs said:

The whole poster thing is kind of crazy.
Back in the early days of rock n roll posters were hung up at a venue as an advertisement for a band, and then it was usually just thrown away. Posters weren’t for sale. That’s why some of the Joplin, Greatful Dead, and early Hendrix posters are so valuable. They were meant to be trashed.
Now days, they print a few thousand and sell them. So I don’t get the value or the appeal.

I'll take it even a step further. Most "Bill Graham Presents" events (fillmore, warfield, and the old Grateful Dead world) were/are given away free as each concert-goer leaves the venue.riley540 said:The whole poster thing is kind of crazy.

Appeal - limited works of art that commemorate an event0 -
Can’t you say that about just about any antique or collectible?riley540 said:The whole poster thing is kind of crazy.

That would be pretty rough if any item could only have the appeal that it originally had when it was first made and/or used. Phones would be seriously out of luck and have no value or appeal whatsoever!riley540 said:The whole poster thing is kind of crazy.

Agree 100%. There catalog is filled with way too many "Ed songs". I like that everyone writes songs and they try to make the songs sound different, but it's a bummer there aren't more Stone-awesome riff/Ed lyric songs.RoleModelsinBlood31 said:-i feel bad for stone, he writes the best riffs the band has ever had, and ties together the music theory but everyone is forced to deal with Ed’s continuous forced direction on the band

Only 2 Stone songs on Lightning Bolt. Maybe that was the problem!rrivers said:

Yeah I could imagine a massive GNR vs MLB rivalry had Andy survived too. I wonder how much Cobain hated MLB if he thought PJ were too commercial.Milestone said:

I don't agree with that. One of MLB's problems was that they had about 0% sex appeal, especially compared to GnR. Also, GnR's music was simply superior and had way more mass appeal for several reasons - skill, vocals, lyrics, style ... pretty much everything. I think suggesting that MLB might have reached GnR levels of success probably demonstrates a pretty serious bias for MLB, no offense.

No, but really... what I mean isn't related to the subjective sexiness or hotness of each band member. It's more about the overall vibe of the group together and their sound. That rock "sex appeal" that record labels drool over because it sells millions of records to fans, the majority of whom are men, lol.
