1. Las Vegas 2000: My first show. The 10th anniversary show. Crown of Thorns 2. Gorge 05: Acoustic set to start. Best venue in the country. 3. Benaroya Hall 04: Ridiculous acoustics. Still get chills when I hear that version of Black.
Benaroya was 03....but a VERY SOLID list here. I’m so jealous I felt the need to correct you.
1) The Vic in 2007 2) Cleveland 2006 is an amazingly underrated show. 3) Bonner Springs 03 for the best version of Release ever and a ROCKING set after that.
Honorable mention to St. Louis 03 and the show where I eventually hear Nothing as it Seems.
3: Berlin 2 2012.. The fact that we had seats in the nosebleeds and that no one else in our section were rocking out, and this still cracks my top 3 is kind of crazy.. But the setlist was just fantastic, the sound was crisp and the boys were super tight and focused all night..! I've had seats 4 times and this was the only time I was was able to completely lose myself and just rock out like I was in the pit..!
2: Krakow 2018. Sick setlist, tight as fuck performance, incredible sound in the tauron arena and my only time at the rail so far. My favorite versions of several songs. (Not for You, Porch, C.Numb come to mind) A handfull of songs into the show, you could tell this was not just any show. This was just a perfect night and I cannot wait for this boot!
1: Vienna 2014. The combination of the setlist, the performance, the sound, the crowd and the length of the show makes this my favorite experience so far. They opened with Long Road-Can't Keep-Black and as Black faded out, Ed mumbled "it'll be a good night" into the mic.. As they came back for the first encore, Ed told us how bad the place sounded at soundcheck, but how we had helped it sound great and "now it's one of the best nights"..
(My first show, Hamburg 2000, deserves a mention as well.. I had no clue what to expect at a PJ show and was completely mindblown..! It was a life changing event)
Your turn!
I'm proud that Vienna 14 made it to the top of your 3 choises...and it has nothing to do that it is my hometown..
really tough to choose but i would rank them like this:
3.) Rome 2018: unbelievable energy in a fantastic location/stadium. unexpected 3 hour set and a band on fire 2.) Vienna 2014: my hometown show. i knew that the stadthalle, built in the 80s, is a horrible location for concerts regarding the sound. But the energy from the crowd and band changed everything. The concert was sold out and it was the biggest crowd of all concerts in the stadthalle in 2014 and the floor was like a huge sea of people. the setlist was unbelievable and you could really see that the band enjoyed the whole evening. 1.) Amsterdam II 2012: everybody knows this show...there is no need to explain why it is my no. 1 PJ concert

I can't put them in order but the best 3 are Leeds 14, Vienna 14 and San Diego or Phoenix 13 (sorry can't split those 2). As an aside what gig did you NOT attend that you wish you had? Mine would be Telluride. I've been there for a holiday and can't imagine a better setting. The bootleg is brilliant too.

Only been to 10 shows and am having a hard time making a top 3. No clue how others with more shows are able to do it. In no order and a little cheating.

Mansfield 3, 2003 - the acoustic set was amazing, they played Breath, I got to see Arc performed, Eddie screwed up Wishlist but made up for it, Stone sang, they played some rarities and lots of stuff from Riot Act and Binaural (my favorite album, and one of two I've seen in their entirety, thanks to this show).
Boston 2, 2006 - just phenomenal energy (from where I was sitting). Launching the show with Severed Hand,m and not slowing down until the 9th song. Got to hear Garden (completing Ten for me), Leash, and Dissident. One of my favorite PJ show moments is when the crowd crescendos to drown out Eddie (or he lets the crowd take over) the lyric "I will scream my lungs out, 'til it fills this room" during Indifference.
Tampa 2016 - tough choice, but this was my return to PJ shows after 10 years, and my wife's 1st ever. We'd tried to get tickets to previous shows, but half-heartedly (it had been a while for me, and money was always tight in the years leading up to this). We happened to be in the area that week, and decided it would be fun. We'd already talked about Fenway, and had nixed the idea. As soon as the band came out and started playing, I looked over at my wife, and I knew we were going to Fenway for at least one night (ended up going to both).
