sushis great until you get one of those oddly textured pieces you can’t quite choke down. Now, pass the sake.
obama definitely wasn’t involved with seven wars but he is the only president to have non stop war during two terms in office (non of which were his responsibility as per W and the reaction to 9/11).

Your fact about Obama is wrong. He’s not the “only president to serve two full terms while at war,” You forgot Teddy Roosevelt (1901-1909) and the Spanish American War (1898-1913). So your “fact,” while true, is also misleading because Obama wasn’t the “only.”mcgruff10 said:

McGruff, I sure hope you dont present things to your students in that way brother, give the whole story and not just a foxnews style talking point, the man ENDED two massive wars, just as he campaigned on, you make it sound like he was a war monger lol
The way you state it, without any context, comes across as though you're portraying Obama as a trigger happy POTUS who started and continued multiple wars, which is total bullshit. Ended Iraq. Drew down Afghanistan. Didnt take action against Syria. Then they blamed him for ending Iraq and said it caused the rise of ISIS. I'm sorry, but you cant have your cake and eat it too. Obama resisted the hawks for 8 years and did the right thing a huge percentage of the time. As a voter that supported his campaign message of ending the Bush Wars, I'm very pleased with his follow through on those fronts and his general reluctance to involve American military. Not to mention he was one of the only politicians with the courage and vision to NOT support the Iraq invasion. I think your portrayal of Obama as a "war president" is not accurate and requires a LOT more context
If you dont see that, I don't know what to tell you brother. Seems obvious to me
What are your thoughts on Obama ending the Iraq war and occupation?
All this was based on a single sentence after someone implied that he led 7 wars (and I must state for the 800th time that I voted for him twice).
What I got after posting a single fact:
Oh my god, you are talking about president Obama in a negative light?!
Nice try bro.
Did this idiot even realize that the invasion of Iraq occurred before Obama was elected?
This guy teaches our kids and doesn't realize that we invaded Afghanistan before Obama was elected?
He stated a sentence without context so we can assume that he is saying that Obama is a trigger happy President for 8 years.
Man that is a cheap shot.
You said without context so let me assume 40 different things based on one single sentence.
Cake and eat it too...or something like that.
Where did I even imply that he didn't inherit two wars? I like both of you guys but you have to stop jumping down peoples throats. it is a wonder that non conformists to the pearl jam mantra don't post here.

... I must admit, intentional or not, the way you presented such "facts" definitely lends to a biased impression against Obama, so that comment about hoping you don't present facts in that manner in your classroom is a valid one. If you didn't intend for it to come off that way, you have some thinking to do anyway, because doing that by accident is probably just as bad as doing it on purpose in the context of teaching.mcgruff10 said:

Have a great weekend.my2hands said:Obama also gets blamed for being weak and the rise of ISIS because he resisted calls for a permanent military presence in Iraq & Afhganistan... under Obama orders the Iraq war officially "ended" in 2011 and he ordered a full troop withdrawal from Iraq in 2015.... he did the same in Afghanistan during his terms, after an initial increase in troops due to destabilization, but did stop short if a full pullout due to lingering issues with the Taliban so the US still has about 8,000 troops in Afghanistan to help support the UN and local forces, but for all I rents and purposes he ended the Afghan war and US occupation.....
I like both of you guys but you have to stop jumping down peoples throats. it is a wonder that non conformists to the pearl jam mantra don't post here.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0 -
I'll make a point.
I think the one of the greatest things created from WWII ( That sounds oxymoronish) is the NATO alliance. The amount of blood spilled to stand up to Nazism and Imperial expansion was to heavy a price. It was paid unfortunately. We should protect our war averting alliance at almost any price because it would pale in comparison to the carnage of that terrible war. If NATO didn't exist I believe Europe and the Middle East would be destroyed by now. Not to mention Asia.
The biggest mistake NATO ever made was to expand. Russia embarrassing collapse of the USSR was made ten fold by expansion. We should have laid back and engaged Russia dramatically and on level terms to give them a sense of belonging and respect. Instead we greedily and laughingly took them for granted and pushed the great bear into a corner. Big mistake. Instead of having Russia on our side to deal with China (whom the Russian worry about way more than the West) we now still have to deal with both adversaries.
If NATO collapses nukes will fly one day...guaranteed.
My two cents.I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.0 -
I am all for the NATO alliance. I am also for the members paying their share and not relying on the US taxpayers to make up the difference for the economic gains of the rest of NATO. I think that is why Trump threatened to pull out. And if they don’t bolster it pay up then they are essentially fine with Russia waltzing in I guess.91 - Ames Iowa CY Stephens Auditorium

I once offered to mow a neighbors lawn because they were drugged out skids. They expected me to do it all the time after that.I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.0 -
Doesn't the European countries do other things, that they say balance out the US paying more -- like helping out immigrants from that war Trump said the US started in Syria?Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

I agree. The taxpayer should demand military spending be reduced say by half over the next decade or so and also reduce European presence by half over the same period. This will give the other members time to prepare to fill the vacuum. Hey you could sell them the hardware left behind. Of course this should all be done under a renewed commitment to the alliance and a guarantee that an attack on one is an attack on all. Hell Trump has reduced taxes so much I can't understand how the US can fund such a vast war machine anyhow.
Don't get how I quote your post and then am allowed to enter it and potentially edit it but...Post edited by TalonTedd onI remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.0 -

I also saw a report that the Syrian war has a lot to do with the effects of global warming. They have been in severe drought conditions for over a decade and food scarcity and hoarding was a primary reason for the rebellion. Apparantly Asad was starving his adversaries...how could that be true.
Resource wars are here and they are growing. About the only growth in this mutilated world.I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.0 -
I just go on what your President said several times.TalonTedd said:Didn't Saudi and Iran start that proxy war
Isn't it weird, he says that the US started the war - but then he mock countries for helping the people fleeing the war?
Weird.
