I often see a crane in the lake outside my house.

    Great Blue Heron

I was fully attacked by one once, totally unprovoked. It was terrifying! I was just walking along... it must have had a nest somewhere out of sight near the path I was on. By why me? Lots of people were walking on that path, lol.

Interesting. Never heard of that! I've had them hang out by me when fishing. Now I'm scared!

It's in Northern Italy in the Dolomites.
    I think it's a red deer.

    Rattlesnake?
When I lived in Colorado saw 3 of them. Different times. Rattled right at me and my dog! We lived to tell, but pretty scary. I was fishing at a lake. Started catching fish and my dog spooked snake. Very lucky he didn't get bit. I scooped dog up. And started to walk away. Then another RS popped its head up to get a good look at us. I carried my dog all the way off the mountain. No ill feelings toward the snakes. Just respect and never let my dog wander again.

gemini ai claims these are black vultures but the range estimates I found via audubon app suggest otherwise. however the text in the entry noted changing climate has expanded their range.

    Nope just a bull snake.
I have seen quite a few rattlers over the years.

At the lake. Drove to the local store about 5 minutes down the highway. Saw a dark figure in my peripheral vision on a dirt road to my right, figured it might be a bear. Decided to take a peek on the way back. A deer had joined him:
