    Got a last minute ticket to the Van show last night. Really good deal and great seats. Show was really good. Would say it isn't too much different then previous shows I have seen them, whereby very similar setlist plus 3-4 new songs. They dedicated Nutshell to Layne and someone else I can't remember who. Found out later it would have been Layne's birthday yesterday.

    I'm seeing them on Labor Day in Tucson. Did they have an opener? Can't seem to find that info anywhere.

    Went to the Tucson show on Monday. Hell of a show! The new stuff really sounds good live, and fits well with all the old stuff (even more so than stuff from the past two albums) . DuVall does a great job standing in for Layne. Of course Jerry can still kill it, Mike holds down the back end, and Sean Kinney has always been one of the criminally underrated drummers in rock. Super glad I went. Amazing to finally hear all those classic songs live.

    I am not saying Will isn't a good singer, but without Layne, I would not go. Same with Soundgarden.

    I'm middle of the road when it comes to the new AIC.   I warmed up to it.   William was already doing vocals on a few of the solo Jerry Cantrell shows I saw.    I remember we all thought he was pretty good.  Thus, when the reformed AIC had him as the singer, it seemed the natural course.  I've seen the new AIC lineup twice now.  Once shortly after they reformed, and again opening for GNR in Seattle a few summers ago.   They're pretty good live.

    Yet, they played Vancouver last summer, and again this summer.   I can't seem to find the oomph to go.    If it was a weekend I could probably find the oomph, but it doesn't vibe strong enough with me to go to midweek shows and deal with missing work.    If it was PJ I'd totally go regardless of the day of the week.    If it was the classic AiC lineup, I bet I wouldn't use it's a mid week show card (of which I need to miss 2 days of work, to deal with travel to Vancouver).
