    The first four Aerosmith albums are great. Especially rocks and toys in the attic. A few good tracks on later albums but you can skip it for the most part.

    Rocks is probably my favorite 70s Aerosmith album.  They start to taper off around Night In The Ruts.  The 80s were rough for them, no doubt.  Their big resurgence was Pump, with Permanent Vacation leading into it.  Their worst 90s was probably Get A Grip, imo.  I dug both Nine Lives and Just Push Play.  After that, if memory serves was just Honkin On Bobo and their final Music From Another Dimension.  Bobo's a blues cover album, and Dimension seemed off in a bunch of directions.  Theres a slew of live albums to dip into, if thats your thing, with Donington being the last one of those.  Also a crap ton of Best Ofs and compilations... 45 years of a band will give you highs and lows!

    i saw aerosmith in the late 90's because i felt i had to see them once.  it was terrible.  cheesy bullshit.

    only albums i have/had from them was Pump and Get a Grip.  Some of their earlier stuff sounds decent.  Later stuff, not so much.

    Done With Mirrors gets overlooked—solid record. And Permanent Vacation is as good as (if not better than) Toys in the Attic or Rocks.

    No, Aerosmith doesn't suck...  There's a reason they've been around this long. Pump, Perm Vac, those albums and a lot of stuff before those albums have some excellent songs. You just have to dig in and find what you like and not give a shit what other people think (myself included).  That's the beauty of music.... We all hear it differently...

    I saw the Rock For The Rising Sun concert film on TV a little while back and it reminded me how great some of their early stuff was. The first 4 or 5 records especially. I've got a soft spot for Permanent Vacation and Pump as well, they were fun records when they came out. 

    I only got to see them once, at the Donington Festival in 1994. They headlined and Extreme were special guests, but the rest of the bill had Pantera, Sepultura, Biohazard, Therapy?, some pretty brutal bands to follow.

    Didn’t realize the guy in the Cryin’ video that steals Alicia Silverstone’s backpack in the diner is none other than “Sawyer from Lost” Josh Holloway.

    I got into them around Permanent Vacation and then went back a found their earlier work. Really liked Toys and Rocks and also Pump and saw them live on that tour. Haven't listened to a lot after Get a Grip, but didn't mind Nine Lives

    Get Pandora's Box for the old stuff. Also like Permanent Vacation and Pump. Wasn't really into anything after that but I liked the song Jaded. At the end they got too much into power ballads. Saw them in concert with Skid Row as the opener, good times.

    Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip were the Aerosmith albums I grew up on.  Love all 3 of them.  I remember when I was younger I didn't realize that classic 70s aerosmith was the same band.  I guess they changed their sound in the 80s.  Love some of those older songs but their 80's and early 90's music is my favourite.  Get a Grip is underrated ;)

    There's something wrong with the world today, I don't know what it is.... there's something wrong with our eyes.....

    I've also seen them live twice.  The first time was about 10 years ago in Edmonton.  It was a co-headling show with Motley Crue.  They played last, but the set was only 90 minutes.  I was super into it, then it ended... fell a little jaded.

    Saw them again in Victoria a few years back, and it wasn't as good.  They also played for 2 hours, so maybe 90 minutes is there sweet spot :)

    They're a fun live band, lots of sing along songs, I don't think I've ever taken them too seriously though.  Credit to Steven Tyler, he can still sing really well after all this time.

    I've been on an Alicia Silverstone kick this week.  It started when I stayed at my friends place Friday night and we watched Clueless on TV Saturday morning.  Then I see this thread yesterday and I'm like, oh yea, more Alicia!  So I watched the vids and picked up on it.

    It's probably the first time I've seen the video since the mid-90s, so I wouldn't have known who the hell Josh Holloway was the last time I saw it.  But still, it's neat to go back and find this stuff out.  On a sidenote, I did know Stephen Dorff was the boyfriend in the video since I had actually seen him back then.

    When I was 12 I loved Aerosmith. As I grew up I thought its all pretty silly. Guns n Roses falls in the same category for me.

    When I was visiting home last month I found this in my boxes of old cds:



    It’s the ‘Box Of Fire’ cd box set from 94 with remasters of the first 12 Columbia albums (Aerosmith to Gems) and a bonus disc. 

    It’s a cool set, I remember seeing it in my local indie store (the long-gone Musiquarium in Swansea). I checked every week to make sure it was still there until I’d saved up enough to buy it  :)

    I've seen them twice. The first was dual headlining tour with Motley Crue, when I lived in edmonton (maybe 15 years ago).   That show was great.   Shorter sets removed most of the fat from Motley Crue's set, and left you wanting more with Aerosmith.

    Saw them again when they played my small city 7 or 8 years ago?  It was solid but not quite as good.  

    I'll sit this one out as there's no Vancouver date, and I don't feel like paying the cost to compete for Seattle tickets.  It's great they had a 50 year career.  That's not too shabby.
