Just listened to a clip of Sam Seder having to say he defends aborting a child right up till birth, as in 9 months old...

Doesn't the American left (democrats?) shoot themselves a bit in the foot on this subject by being for aborting a child no matter how late? It sounded kind of bizarre to my ears.

What is the reasoning for this by the american "left", instead of e.g. striving for and fighting for the Swedish (or other european) model? Which must be easier to "sell" and get people to agree on.

any woman who has carried to that time  or near it intends to have that child  in the rare instances where a third trimester abortion is performed,  its due to fetal anomoly.

2 examples. A couple, friends, discovered during high risk pregnancy the baby was dead in the womb. chose d and c. held funeral and acknowledge her every year. Named her Shelby.

My cousin discovered late a trisomy conditon,(third chromosome attached to a given pair) this was related to heart. her baby had a hole in her heart and was considered unviable, chose to carry to term and her daughter lived maybe an hour.

each family made the choice that was right for them.

I want someone to show me a first hand account of a woman choosing abortion that late in third trimester, just because she could abort.
Do you think swedish women are having to keep a dead fetus in the womb and hope for a miracle? Even with our different laws?

The defense seem to be like you are saying  ”…but no one is actually doing that, just chillll”. But still having to say pushed into a corner that you support a woman aborting 60 seconds before birth if it comes down to that seems to be a wonky strategy for getting as many people on board as possible.

Compared to lets say arguing for a swedish model. luckiy over here this is not an election issue - it is a non-issue.  I am baffled though by what Sam Seder said and is having to defend as being the preffered US model.
